Intralox LLC, a division of Laitram LLC, has a position available for an Engineering Technologist who will work in our New Orleans office to support our new product development team with high-value commercial testing and in the creation of innovative, high-value solutions for challenging real-world problems.

Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate and execute testing projects
    • Commercial testing to further sales of key equipment to our customers
    • Internal testing to support new product development and applications engineering
    • Includes mechanical, thermal, and materials testing
  • Effectively and professionally communicate test results to customers and internal stakeholders
    • Generate objective technical reports
    • Actively participate in meetings with customers and/or engineering
  • Conduct tours and training events for both internal and customer personnel
  • Contribute ideas/designs and make recommendations to improve products and/or tests conducted
  • Fabricate and assemble new test equipment as needed
  • Maintain and coordinate usage of shop and test areas
    • Shop safety and organization is a priority
  • Provide training on the operation of test equipment as needed
  • Manage, troubleshoot, and maintain test equipment in Intralox's Conditioning Control Center
Requirements:
  • Degree in Engineering Technology or minimum 2 years of related work experience in a manufacturing environment or mechanical/electromechanical trade such as auto, aircraft, or industrial machinery mechanic, installation or field service technician, controls technician, etc.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with external customers
  • Excellent mechanical and technical aptitude
  • Machine design or related trade experience (e.g. auto mechanic, electrician, welder, machine maintenance, carpentry, machinist, etc.)
  • Computer skills (Windows, Microsoft Office applications)
  • Self-managed, able to work well and manage assigned priorities without supervision
  • Sense of ownership and pride in one's work and contribution to the team
  • Experience with hand tools and power tools
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% of the time - customers site visits, training, installations, etc.
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds safely, and be able to work some outside
  • Must have an understanding of safe work practices, proper handling of tools, electricity, etc.
Desired:
  • Machining / Fabrication experience (mill and lathe) and/or welding capability
  • CAD (computer-aided design) experience
  • Familiarity with PLCs/VFDs
  • Experience in manufacturing or production plants
