The Opportunity at Hand

The role of the Treasury Department Intern is an integral member of the Global Finance team adding value through assisting with cash and liquidity forecasting in addition to participating in cross-departmental projects to enhance overall finance operations.

Projects & Tasks

  • Cash Position Monitoring:
    • Input budget codes in a Treasury Management System (Kyriba) to properly tag domestic & international bank transactions into various receivable and expenditure categories
    • Investigate untagged prior day bank transactions to determine proper classification
    • Categorize transactions by type (e.g., inflows, outflows, FX changes, fees, or adjustments)
    • Compare balances with previous day's positions to identify unusual movements
  • Bank & Budget Reconciliation:
    • Systematically comparing the actual financial results to the forecasts to identify discrepancies and understand their root causes
    • Identify transactions posted in one system (bank or Kyriba) but not yet reflected in the other due to processing delays
  • Project Support:
    • Participate in ongoing treasury projects, such as automation initiatives or process improvements
    • Continued assistance with expanding Kyriba functionality and reporting
  • Keep all sensitive matters confidential
  • Other duties as assigned

Overall Goals and objectives: This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience with a Treasury Management System and insight into Treasury operations. Accurately tagging international bank transactions improves cash visibility, streamlines reconciliation, enhances forecasting, ensures reporting compliance, and strengthens global cash flow control.

Education and Experience

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Bachelor or Master's program within Finance or a similar related business field (accounting, business management, business analytics, economics, etc.)

This role is 100% in-person and requires on-site attendance five days a week at our Headquarters building located in downtown Buffalo. The hourly rate for this posted position is $17/hr. and pertains to candidates located in Western New York. Compensation is determined by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, education, essential job duties and requirements, and necessary experience.
