Summary: Responsible for providing products to the lines and moving all finished pallets to the warehouse.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position reports directly to the Barcode Supervisor and will receive directions from the Barcode Manager or current lead in the absence of or in conjunction with the Barcode Supervisor.

The primary responsibility of the Barcode Material Handler is to safely and efficiently perform top-quality operational duties daily which include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Knowledge and recognition of plastic fittings by name, shape, and dimension.
  • Knowledge of daily performance goals and work to achieve 100% of targeted output.
  • Assuring quality of work through verification of correctness for all types of barcoded fittings and their associated packaging (i.e.: labels, cartons/cases, ink jet printed information, case count, and pallet configuration)
  • Detection, segregation, and isolation of non-conforming quality defects and notifying Supervisor, Manager, and/or QA Department
    • Able to identify various types of quality defects based on appearance, fit, form, and function.
  • Load hoppers with full bins of available parts for barcoding or packaging.
  • Transport all finished pallets from the wrapper staging area to the warehouse.
  • Scan in RF scanner finished pallets from staging location into a designated warehouse location.
  • Stretch wrap all the finished pallets.
  • Empty the large trash bins in barcode area.
  • Must be able to safely operate and perform daily maintenance checks on a forklift.
  • Proper organization and cleanliness of assigned work area to the highest standards.
  • Backup reach lift driver's position with parts washer and putting away bins from IM.
  • Performing the above-mentioned functions with minimum supervision.
  • Any other duties assigned by supervision or management.
  • Stage empty pallets in designated areas for production.
  • Remove empty bins from the area and store them outside.

Supervisory Responsibilities: None

Qualifications: Must be able to operate PIT equipment (Forklift, reach truck). Must have license to operate both pieces of equipment

Education and/or Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent.

Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend sufficient English to follow work instructions

Mathematical Skills: Basic mathematical skills and counting ability required.

Reasoning Ability: Must be able to pay close attention to detail, have general deductive reasoning skills to troubleshoot minor issues and knowledge of how and when to escalate. Must be able to work without close supervision.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have PIT licenses

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, bend, stoop, walk, carry, clean, drive and maintain. Will use gloves, fork truck, stretch wrap machine, and pallet jacks.

Exposed to heat, cold, noise, dust, oil/grease and travelling powered industrial vehicles.

Training Requirements:

  • General Job Duties: Forklift operation, stretch wrapper use, interpret parts bin hangers, tracking paperwork/verification, packaging types, housekeeping, etc.
  • Line Operation: Responsible for keeping empty pallets staged for the Barcode department, transporting finished pallets to wrapper and/or warehouse, verifying correct parts are staged for the appropriate line according to the released production schedule
  • Quality Control & Auditing: Employees are trained in defective parts and how to verify counts, part numbers, barcode readability, pallet quantity, etc
