Responsibilities & Expectations: As a Billing Specialist for IPS, you will provide vital support to our team by leading effective communication between Customers; both internal and external, regional locations, accounting team, Sales Managers, & billing department. This is a highly important position and is vital to ensure the AR Department meets its goals of efficiency and customer satisfaction. Billing Responsibilities: * Responsible for the day-to-day billing processes of all accounts within assigned portfolio. * Ensure accurate and timely invoice entry, including distribution of invoices to customers and portal processing. * Follows standard accounting practices, for revenue recognition. * Confirms presence of all necessary documentation required to invoice. * Follows company billing policy. * Escalate submitted billing documentation outside of policy to management for review. * Work closely with the accounting team for timely reporting of discrepancies. * Works closely with collections teams and cash teams to assist with reconciliations. * Participation in monthly functional team meetings * Meet targets and deadlines for invoices, credits, and rebills. * Support commercial and residential clients. Cash Application Responsibilities: * Responsible for posting payments to customer accounts, researching payments without remittances, and resolving cash application issues, ensuring accurate and timely processing. * Post all incoming payments to the proper customer and/or General Ledger accounts in ERP systems. * Research and resolve payments without remittances, ensuring proper application. * Reconcile cash receipts between bank accounts and ERP systems. * Verify accuracy and validity of deductions/discounts. * Work closely with the Collections Department and Service Centers to identify and correct misapplied, duplicate, or overpayments. * Assist with the research and resolution of unapplied cash. * Maintain records and reports of bank statements, payments, and remittances. Qualifications and Competencies: * High school education or equivalent. Associate degree preferred * Three years or more experience in billing and cash application, preferably in construction / manufacturing * Must be able to analyze and problem-solve issues during high stress situations. * General understanding of billing procedures in accordance with acceptable accounting practices preferred.
