Specialist Medical Staff

Purpose of Job

This position is responsible for medical staff functions related to hospital/payor credentialing and re-credentialing.

Job Functions

1. Coordinates the organization and payor credentialing and re-credentialing process in conjunction with Medical Staff Bylaws, DNV regulatory requirements, payor/insurance requests and policies and procedures for providers.
2. Facilitates verification and application requests from other health care entities.
3. Monitor and verify from primary sources medical staff expirables.
4. Prepares meeting minutes as appropriate for assigned committees.
5. Verifies medical staff status with payors.
6. Updates and maintains the payor credentialing site.
7. Assists with ongoing Professional Practice Evaluation.
8. Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education /Work Experience

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Detailed Orientated
• Ability to work independently and prioritize/organize tasks

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Knowledge of credentialing and re-credentialing procedures
• Ability to meet and maintain the necessary background checks as aligned with position functions
• Possesses good organizational skills with ability to prioritize and multitask
• Capable of making independent decisions with the use of good critical thinking and problem solving
• Ability to relate confidence and professionalism with physicians and staff
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Ability to communicate in the English language for effective written and verbal correspondence in order to complete job functions as mentioned above

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's degree in medical related field
• Two years experience in health care setting
• Credentialing/Privileging experience
• Experience in MSOW and/or MN Credentialing Collaborative online applications
