Staff AccountantLocated: South Park (Hybrid)A well-established full-service architecture and engineering firm with operations across the Continental United States is seeking an Accountant to join its headquarters in Charlotte, NC. This position will support accounting functions for projects involving Department of Defense, federal government, and private sector clients. The Accountant will be responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, and project accounting. Key duties include facilitating period close, preparing journal entries, completing account reconciliations, and assisting with financial reporting. The role will also involve compiling data, ensuring transaction accuracy in the general ledger, and supporting various accounting functions as needed. Responsibilities: Project Accounting Ensure accounting compliance with corporate policies and procedures. Collaborate with field personnel to develop and refine accounting processes. Maintain systems for tracking, controlling, and documenting expenditures. Prepare project budgets and identify variances. Provide documentation for project requirements and additional support as needed. Accounts Payable Review vendor invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports for accuracy and appropriateness. Ensure all payables receive proper approval before processing. Enter accounts payable transactions into the accounting system. Manage vendor inquiries, maintain invoice files, and update vendor records, including W-9 forms. Accounts Receivable/Billing Oversee monthly client billings. Prepare invoices for clients and subcontractors, ensuring accuracy. Maintain documentation to support billing charges and provide reports as needed. Assist project managers with billing review reports. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting (BA or BS required). Minimum 3 years of accounting experience. Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, data analysis). Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred. Ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
