About the Role:

As a project manager in the Modernization and Data Solutions practice, you will be supporting public safety communication initiatives for our clients, partners, and stakeholders, primarily through applying oversight, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills. This role will involve working with your team to provide management, oversight, and applicable technical expertise to successfully implement public safety communication and information technology solutions for our clients.

Serving as a project manager, your day-to-day role as a NYSTEC consultant will include tracking and managing client projects, meeting with stakeholders to communicate updates on status, risks, issues etc., reviewing and providing feedback on technical project documentation, and working collaboratively with the project team to accomplish key project objectives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Creating and maintaining key project documentation, both technical deliverables and project-management-level documentation.
  • Planning, scheduling, and conducting project meetings with clients and stakeholders to accomplish key project goals.
  • Preparing communications and presentations on project status, risks, issues, dependencies, and technical deliverables.
  • Developing and analyzing project technical needs and gaps.
  • Organizing and escalating action items, decisions, risks, and issues.
  • Assisting with project quality management and ensuring that deliverables meet NYSTEC's and the client's quality standards.
  • Developing detailed project timelines.
  • Working closely with the project team and external stakeholders to ensure that key project milestones are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring that all parties and stakeholders are informed of the progress and status of all relevant project activities.


About you:
Required Qualifications

  • Excellent writing, documentation, communication, and analytical skills to meet project goals.
  • Experience with managing a project team, financials, and forecasting resources.
  • Experience as a project manager of technical implementation projects.
  • Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of products.
  • Strong familiarity with project management software tools (e.g., Microsoft Project, Smartsheets), methodologies, and best practices.
  • Professional organization and planning skills.
  • Ability to develop relationships with stakeholders and to understand their needs through excellent listening and effective written and verbal communication.
  • Aility to complete projects according to outlined scope, budget, and timeline.
  • Ability to travel throughout New York State, interacting with clients and employees at client and corporate offices.


Preferred/Desired Qualifications

  • Project management professional (PMP) certification.
  • Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) certification.
  • Experience with RFP projects.
  • Experience implementing and managing voice and data communications systems.
  • Experience in Internet Protocol (IP)-based and wireless technologies in the public safety environment.
  • Experience working with public safety/critical infrastructure stakeholders.
  • Familiarity with public safety organization operations.


Education and Experience

  • A bachelor's degree and three years of related experience.
  • An equivalent combination of advanced education, training, and experience will be considered.


The pay range for this position is $79,793.00 to $109,716.00 per year.
