Primary Responsibilities You will be part of a rapidly growing team working on a variety of exciting projects that will test your engineering skills and set you on a path for career growth. As an integral part of a team, you will prepare engineering designs on substation projects ranging in scale from simple device replacements to large greenfield substation sites. You'll be given the flexibility and freedom to seek and acquire knowledge and experience in both the Protection and Control and Physical aspects of high voltage substation design. This is an excellent growth opportunity for a self-directed individual who is eager to learn and take on new challenges. In the role of Substation EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to:
- Working under the direction of Project Manager(s) and Project Engineer(s) your role will encompass the following:
- Preparation of engineering drawings, calculations, analyses, reports, and designs for electrical substations (Low, Medium and High Voltage).
- Preparation of calculations, design sketches and redline drawings.
- Working with Designers and CADD Technicians to develop drawings in accordance with national design standards, safety codes and project specifications and requirements.
- Developing design deliverables including one-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA schemes block diagrams, communications plans, substation physical layouts, material lists, conduit and cable sizing/routing, AC and DC systems calculations and sizing, and substation grounding.
- Performing site visits during the design, construction, and as-built phases of projects.
- Perform other duties as needed
Due to client contract requirements: US Citizenship - US naturalized citizen (foreign born) required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate (or ability to acquire one within 6 months of employment)
- Candidates without their EIT will be placed into a Design Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression
- Bachelors or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering with an Electrical emphasis.
- Strong written and confident verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and ability to take initiative.
- Desire to pursue growth and obtain Professional Engineer License.
- Strong foundations in circuit analysis.
- Highly proficient in using Bluebeam.
- Familiarity electrical design software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
- Preference will be given candidates local to the Irvine, CA area.
- Prior experience of doing distribution systems, substation, and power facilities design and engineering is highly preferred.
- A minimum of 2 years experience with an architectural/engineering or engineering consulting firm is preferred.
- Prior experience consulting or working for an electric utility considered a plus

- Computer skills in Microsoft Office

The expected compensation range for this position is $69,000 - $88,000 and depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions.
