About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a book editor to acquire and publish content in neurosciences. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, both oral and written, as building and maintaining strong working relationships with authors, editors, and other external stakeholders, is essential to this role.

This role can be in our Manhattan or Jersey City office on a hybrid working model.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Acquire and publish content in neuroscience
  • Develop a clear strategy to identify and grow special topics in neuroscience
  • Identify potential authors in the academic communities
  • Foster relationships with academics, researchers, and authors to maintain a network of subject-area experts
  • Expand the existing book portfolio in partnership with series editors, editorial board members, and authors
  • Solicit, evaluate, and manage book proposals, including external peer review
  • Negotiate contract terms with authors
  • Assist authors with manuscript preparation as needed
  • Business travel (domestic/international) as required

Experience, Skills, and Qualifications:

Essential

  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent)
  • 3-4 years of work experience in a professional office environment (preferably publishing)
  • Excellent English language skills, both verbal and written, and be numerate and IT systems-literate, with a sharp eye for detail
  • Be a diplomatic and assertive individual who is able to work with demanding stakeholders
  • Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and work independently in a team environment
  • Be resourceful and proactive in dealing with problems and queries
  • Excellent networking skills

Desirable

  • Maintain a general interest in science and research trends
  • Editorial experience is not required, although applicants with significant editorial experience are encouraged to apply.

US Annualized Base Salary Range: $66,000 - $80,000. The salary offer may vary based on work experience, education, skill level and equity. The US salary range does not align with the salary ranges in other countries when converted to the currency of that country.
