Overview

The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring the efficient and effective planning of materials for finished goods in the manufacturing operation. This role plays a critical part in maintaining optimal inventory levels to help ensure timely production output. The Production Planner collaborates with various departments, such as production, procurement, and logistics, to ensure smooth production flow and minimize downtime while meeting quality and delivery targets.



Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities
* Develop daily planning/scheduling techniques derived from the weekly top-level MPS requirements plan and utilizing Kanban, re-order point, and/or dispatch list for production releases of component parts.
* Maintain component part planning parameters based on future needs, such as lead times, lot sizes, and safety stock for all component parts.
* Analyze daily requests for work orders to determine validity of the request. Change part planning parameters as necessary to automate release of work orders or adjust Kanban/re-order point systems.
* Engage with appropriate Materials Team member to resolve issues such as material availability, material quality, expediting required material, and capacity conflicts.
* Work with production supervisors to achieve daily schedules and meet monthly target inventory levels.
* Participate in daily production and scheduling meetings.
* Communicate work center loading to stakeholders and provide feedback on schedule attainment/progress.
* Work to reduce inventories, improve productivity and efficiency.
* Adhere to company policies and regulations regarding workplace safety, quality standards, and productivity goals.
* Participate in training sessions and meetings to stay current on all operation techniques and safety guidelines.
* Efficiently perform tasks and assignments as directed by leadership, assuring adherence to company standards and deadlines.



Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

    Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in production planning, materials management, or supply chain
  • Strong understanding of production planning principles, techniques, and methodologies, with experience in demand forecasting, capacity planning, and scheduling
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, inventory control, and production scheduling software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think critically under pressure
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work well with various stakeholders including production team members, purchasing, engineering, and quality
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and ability to identify areas for improvement to drive efficiency and cost reduction
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • APICS certification is a plus.
    Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing processes.
    Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, JD Edwards (JDE), and Power BI

Salary Range:

$53,000 - $90,000
