Job Title: Head of Data Value Management

Vision: Beazley Shared Services - Data

Reports To: Chief Data Officer

Key Relationships: Business Stakeholders, Data team, Modernisation Programme, Data Governance Group, Federated Data Domains /Teams, IT, Operations, Data Owners, Data Stewards, Risk.

Job Summary:

Beazley's data reflects the complexity of our business, and we are committed to building a modern data culture and platform that ensures data is reusable, and integrated into our business products and services effectively. In this role you will be part of the Data Leadership team and will be repsonisble for the Beazley's Global Data Management, Governance and Quality capabilities. You will be responsible for nurturing a culture obsessed with "Data Value" and work with the Chief Data Officer to deliver the Data Strategy

Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making across the organization
  • Be the key conduit between Data, IT, business units, and risk / compliance teams aligning Data Value Manegement initiatives to Beazley organizational goals.
  • Implement effective Data management frameworks that enhance capability and maturity across Beazley, and ensure appropriate, accurate and up-to-date information is integrated into our systems and decision-making processes.
  • Provide thought leader and subject matter expertise on Data Management, Ethics and Governance, simplifying the art and making it accessible to Beazley employees
  • Inspire and lead the business to enhance business outcomes, and drive remediation of process / data deficiencies in accordance with our change framework
  • Drive the successful implementation and adoption of Data Lineage and Master Data Management (MDM) processes and tools across business owners, IT platforms and data stewards
  • Devise and monitor appropriate value indicators that measure Beazley's data culture
  • Track the effectiveness of data governance and quality initiatives.
  • Innovate and deploy modern tools (incl AI) to enhance data quality and data governance and support business growth and efficiency
  • Develop and be responsible for the standards, policies, forums and procedures for Data Governance across Beazley
  • Owner of the Beazley Data Policy, Data Deficiency process and management of Critical Data Elements.
  • Ensure alignment between Data Governance, Information Security and IT policies and requirements.
  • Build and maintain good working-relationships across the Data team and other key stakeholders across Beazley to achieve shared goals
  • Provide regular reports and insights to leadership on data management progress and challenges.
  • Provide thought leader and subject matter expertise on Data Management, Ethics and Governance, simplifying the art and making it accessible to Beazley employees
  • Work closely with business stakeholders to stay close to opportunities and challenges that exist and provide guidance on factors that could impact data collection and processing

  • Carry out additional responsibilities as individually notified, either through your objectives or through the learning management system. These may include membership of any Beazley committees or working groups.

Personal Specification:

We're looking for candidates who are passionate about driving strategic change that will help Beazley create a best in class approach to Data Management. Candidate should have a proven track record of implementing enterprise data standards and capability to deliver business innovation and enhance value delivery across a business. We are looking for someone who can lead, cultivate a team, and knows how to encourage performance, motivate peers, and collaborate at the highest levels of an organisation.

The successful candidate should have a passion for data and a curious mindset both for Beazley and the wider insurance industry. Great communication skills across all levels of seniority and the ability to represent data internally and externally to our colleagues, and clients will also be important.

Education and Qualifications

  • Relevant degree desirable but not essential

Knowledge and Experience

  • Demonstrable experience of leading data governance and data management frameworks fit for a global environment
  • Established governance processes and engaged teams (direct and matrix), to lead and implement enterprise-wide data governance and demonstrable improvements in data culture.
  • Experience using AI & automation to enhance and support data governance and quality development
  • An expert in Data management practices including data profiling, data cataloguing, reference data, master data management and associated requirements gathering
  • Proven experience of developing and implementing a Data Management Framework and a Data Quality Management service that resolves data / business deficiencies
  • Detailed knowledge of business and technology issues / opportunities related to data management
  • Clear knowledge and experience relating to the application of data governance, data privacy and data ethics principles to support and drive data strategy
  • Experienced working within relevant statutory frameworks such as GPDR, etc
  • Working knowledge of lean, continuous improvement and Agile ways of working

Salary for this role will be tailored to the successful individual's location and experience. The expected compensation range for this position is $180,000-$190,000 per year plus discretionary annual bonus.
