Senior Process Control Engineer, Kennecott Utah Copper LLC, Bingham Canyon, UT:

Drive control system changes through management of change (MOC) process for concentrator plant and other facilities and their equipment. Implement changes in control logic within Emerson DeltaV Distributed control system (DCS) and Programmable Logical Controller (PLC) systems. Manage plant historian including adding and modifying points as necessary. Identify opportunities to rationalize DCS alarming system to improve plant operator awareness. Identify Proportional-Integral-Derivative (PID) control loops and recommend instrumentation changes or repairs to improve control performance. Manage advanced control systems and their interfaces with main control system. Use the MOC process when needed. Support improvement projects including drawing reviews, control narratives, and code review and testing. Mentor other engineers within the process control group. Identifying opportunities for optimization within the control systems. Coordinate with operations and maintenance to minimize downtime. Act as a control system resource to the rest of the technical department, assisting with troubleshooting process issues.

Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day a week.

Full time employment, Monday - Friday, 40 hours per week.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Automation, or a related field, and 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 5 years of experience in each of the following:

  • DeltaV process control system and HMI Configuration;
  • Osisoft PI data historian, including point creation;
  • PID control loop tuning and troubleshooting;
  • Open Platform Communications (OPC) troubleshooting; and
  • Mining industry experience, including floatation technology.

Must have 3 years of experience with advanced control applications, including feed forward control, cascade, and override control.

Must have Delta V Implementation I certification and Delta V Implementation II certification.

Telecommuting permitted up to 1 day a week.

Domestic travel required up to 10%
