Generally, this role will support and help to continuously improve our employee experience with Learning & Development at Toshiba. Provide leadership of the learning content in our knowledge and learning platform as well as assist with related content of the HR portal. In addition to the focus on Learning and Development, this person may assist with other HR projects as time permits.

Specifically, the Learning & Development Specialist will partner within the team and lead programs in a performance-based culture. Project work may include guidance and support for the Annual Performance Management cycle, Succession Planning, creating Individual Development Plans, providing learning guidance focused on employee development.

Our Learning & Development team also partners with business segments to create classes tailored to specific functions and processes within a department or team.

Areas of Expertise & Special Skills:
  • Minimum of 4+ years' experience in Human Resources including 3+ supporting Learning & Development
  • BA/BS degree and/or equivalent combination of education/experience
  • Instructional Design certification preferred
  • 5+ years of experience in instructional design and content development of online, classroom, and virtual learning in a corporate setting
  • Design and develop learner-center experiences and programs that incorporate sound instructional design methodologies and UX design with practical application, especially for highly complex and high-profile projects and program ownership.
  • Use of design thinking for innovative learning solutions that focus on leaner needs to change performance behaviors
  • Demonstrated ability to work with senior leaders, subject matter experts, and peers to drive learner engagement, create relevant learning experiences, and align training programs to corporate goals
  • Serve as an expert in the field of learning, advising our Learning Operations Circle, Talent Development, and other relevant leaders
  • Experience with learning management system administration (SABA, Open Sesame and LRN preferred), benefits administration, HR general projects
  • Experience and confident using various video training/meeting platforms (Teams, Zoom, GoTo Meeting, WebEx)
  • Experience with Articulate Storyline 360 or similar tool helpful
  • Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community and with vendors
  • Model a growth mindset and a passion for developing yourself and others
  • Experience working as part of a cross-functional HR team
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects with specific deadlines in an atmosphere of ongoing change and continuous improvement
  • Growth mindset to mentor and coach others to ensure learning solutions met industry standards
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality

Responsibilities:
  • Partner within the team and lead programs in a performance-based culture. Provide learning guidance focused on employee performance and development. Provide support of content in our knowledge and learning platform as well as assist with related content for the HR portal.
  • Collaborate with SME's to create content for compliance and other needs for online and in person training and co-develop learning programs that are based on both the organizations and the individual's needs. Manage the process on the Learning Platform. Create and deliver/facilitate user instructional training content.
  • Partner with the internal communication function to ensure audience, content and timing meet the requirements of training programs.
  • Collaborate with the technical team to develop system functionality, solve issues and offer feedback for continuous improvement of the system and employee experience.
  • Maintain compliance and general training calendar.
  • Reporting and analysis of the Learning & Development platform.
  • Support the Learning and Development team and other HR functional groups with projects as priorities and time permits.
