Position Description
Employees in this classification are experienced LVN's responsible for performing a wide variety of patient care activities in an assigned correctional facility. Work performed under the direction of a regional director of nursing, staff nurse and/or physician as part of a total health care team in providing complete evaluations to patients. Works under the direct supervision of regional director of nursing, staff nurse or physician. May instruct coworkers and supervise them in the performance of special procedures. Work performed as part of a total correctional managed health care team in providing safe and competent care to patients.

Major/Essential Functions
  • Coordinate daily staff assignments based on patient needs and unit priorities, ensuring all assigned tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  • Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to accurately document and communicate patient information, supporting informed clinical decision-making and continuity of care.
  • Assist with or perform patient examinations and procedures, documenting all interventions in the EMR in a timely manner.
  • Administer or assist in the administration and proper documentation of medications in accordance with established protocols.
  • Develop, implement, and uphold nursing standards to ensure consistent high-quality patient care.
  • Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, support both patients and clinical staff.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and records in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.

In addition to the base position compensation, we offer shift differential pay for night and weekend shifts:
Licensed Vocational Nurse Differential:
  • Day Shift Employees: Earn an extra $3.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.
  • Night Shift Employees:
    • Earn an extra $3.00 per hour for shifts worked Monday through Friday.
    • Earn an extra $6.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.


Required Qualifications
  • Completion of a Board of Nursing accredited program of vocational nursing.
  • Current Vocational Nursing license in the state of Texas or the attainment of a temporary permit from the Board of Nursing to practice vocational nursing pending full licensure in the state of Texas.
  • At least two years of LVN experience in a hospital, clinic or community-based environment.
