PRIMARY FUNCTION The Human Resources Generalist performs Human Resources related duties at the professional level and may carry out responsibilities in the employment, benefit, or compliance divisions of the human resources department. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Conduct new hire orientations.
- Complete new hire processing including review new hire forms for accuracy, completing E-Verify and processing the forms with payroll.
- Coordinate the relocation process with HR and department managers.
- Maintain monthly reports for different departments.
- Coordinate the educational assistance program and maintain documents.
- Update active directory with HR data such as job title, phone number, and supervisor information.
- Answer calls and forms for verification of employment.
- Retain records in line with company record retention requirements.
- Create job descriptions for new positions associated with contracts.
- Assist in answering employee general questions.
- Complete all documentation/forms/reports required.
- May assist Benefits Lead with employee benefit issues, orientation, enrollment paperwork, etc.
- May record employee information such as personal data, compensation, benefits, leave of absence information, performance reviews, and termination date and reason in Human Resource Information System (HRIS).
- May assist in responding to inquiries, communicate and ensure understanding by employees and management of laws, regulations, organization policies, procedures and programs.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Intermediate knowledge of Human Resources best practices, functional areas, and state and federal compliance as related to the field.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize, multi-task, and confidentially process and maintain data with accuracy.
- Basic computer skills specifically using Microsoft Office Suite; ability to learn additional computer skills or software programs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively and cooperatively with all levels of management and staff.
- Effective communication skills to effectively communicate information to others as well as to present information in front of a group.
- Ability to use general office equipment such as fax, phone, copier, etc.
- Strong customer service skills, including active listening, prompt service and follow-up. Ability to convey information clearly, effectively, and professionally.
- Active listening skills: attentiveness when listening to others to understand, ask appropriate questions, etc.
- Ability to perform basic math (add, subtract, multiply, divide) quickly and correctly.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to evaluate data and consider decision impact across multiple areas.
- Strong decision analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Effective interpersonal and leadership skills.
- Ability to learn and understand corporate policies and procedures and how they relate to the company's goals.
- Ability to draw conclusions and justify decisions.
- Ability to perform basic mathematical computations, detect unobvious facts and issues, and exercise resourcefulness in resolving problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BA/BS degree and 1 year of relevant experience or a total of 5 years relevant experience in lieu of degree.
- Proven work experience withbenefits packages for union, hourly, and exempt personnel.
- Experience using Workday HRIS system or comparable system.
- Work experience with Microsoft Office at an intermediate level or higher.
- Experience in working with a unionized workforce.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government security clearance.
