Responsible for leading a team in relationship management, technical expertise and problem-solving for relevant aspects of retirement plan administration, which may include one or more of the following areas of concentration: plan installation & takeover, plan/contract issuance and termination, plan testing and reporting, customer relationship management.

Maintains capabilities and professionalism of assigned team's interactions with employers, plan participants, auditors, attorneys, government agencies, and Sentry field and home office personnel.

Successfully balances requirements of achieving Sentry's business objectives within legal, administrative, practical, compliance and system capabilities for qualified plan administration

This position will be located in our Stevens Point - Strongs location.

What You'll Do
As a 401k Service Manager, you will:
  • Manages overall schedules, procedures, and policies for team's functions, ensuring that all Sentry contractual or business obligations are fulfilled adequately. Ensures that team's reports are accurately and timely prepared and distributed to affected areas.
  • In conjunction with Director and other managers, establishes and monitors departmental goals, objectives and policies that complement overall company objectives.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements changes in products, procedures and processes which are required by government regulations that impact Sentry's retirement products or business, or which are necessary to remain competitive in the retirement marketplace.
  • Ensures that applicable control documents and procedures are consistently updated and reflect current business practices and Sentry requirements. Monitors quality through periodic audit processes and measures service and productivity through various unit reports.
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Develops team's relationship management, communication, and technical skills to anticipate and address service issues and resolve problems quickly and effectively.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of acceptability guidelines for new and takeover business, including profitability
  • Provides training and technical support to staff and sales force as needed.
  • Maintains expert knowledge of current and proposed rules and regulations affecting retirement plans.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with other business units.
  • Provides leadership and technical expertise in implementation of new technologies, services, policies and procedures.
  • Assists with review and assessment of special plan administration and compliance needs in competitive bidding situations.
  • Participates in projects, involvement in marketing direction and product development as requested.
  • Administers human resource-related activities including timely performance and salary reviews and ensures all subordinates adhere to human resources policies and practices. Selects, develops, motivates, and recognizes staff.
  • May manage financial resources including developing, administering, and assuring conformance to the annual department budget.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned from time to time.
What it Takes:
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of related work experience.
  • CEBS or ASPPA designation highly desirable.
  • Extensive qualified retirement plan, insurance and investment knowledge.
  • Previous successful management experience and analytical abilities to develop, implement, and monitor pension programs.
  • Experience with PC, internet and LAN-based systems.
  • Understanding of government regulations and taxation of pension products.
  • Knowledge of Sentry's organization and distribution systems beneficial.
  • Ability to organize and coordinate various activities related to planning, developing and implementing pension programs beneficial.
