Kratos has an opportunity for an entry level Orbital Analyst Engineer. The Orbital Analysis will be focused on satellite orbit determination, maneuver planning, evaluating, gathering, interpreting, and analyzing the satellite orbital data and generating the relevant satellite information needed.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:



  • Ability to effectively communicate with various team members
  • Support the assessment of on-orbit operations through planning, execution and debrief phases
  • Support the efforts for initial and post maneuver orbit determination
  • Learn and support efforts using Kalman Filter monitoring/analysis and manipulation
  • Be involved in operational procedures, and scripts, including unit and system testing
  • Work in a cross functional engineering team
  • Travel as necessary to support project needs (typically 10% travel)
  • Be able to obtain and maintain Security Clearances

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor of Science in Physics, Engineering or related STEM field
  • Education and or experience in orbital mechanics/astrodynamics
  • Ability/understanding to conduct modeling, simulation and analysis of orbital maneuvers and trajectory estimations
  • A self-starter and able to work in a fast paced execution environment, with small and large engineering project teams (an absolute must)
  • Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.


Preferred Skills and Experience



  • Familiarity with various astrodynamics tools (Free Flyer, System Tool Kit (STK), NASA General Mission Analysis Tool (GMAT), Orbit Determination Toolbox (ODTBX))
  • Space Domain Awareness (SDA) planning and analysis
  • SATCOM Operational knowledge sufficient to define requirements needed for the Operators to execute their role and mission
  • Fundamental statistical analysis
  • MatLab, Python, Java, C++
  • Knowledge of astrodynamics coordinate frames (i.e. ECI & RIC)
  • Hands on SATCOM Operations experience

The grade-based pay range for this job is listed below. Individual salaries within that range are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, and skills.

Competitive salary based on experience and education
Salary Range: $70,000-$95,000
