Essential Functions

Duties:



  • To assist in the planning and implementing of the various athletic programming. The position requires "hands on" involvement, as well as supervisory duties.
  • Responsible for recruiting, organizing and executing all athletic programs.
  • Market, develop and advertise athletic programs for youth, adults and families.
  • Responsible for coordinating internally with different departments the implementation and registration dates and coaches' meetings and to assist in developing and implementing the athletics calendar.
  • Responsible for assisting the Program Director in developing and creating new athletic programs and classes.
  • Responsible for creating a safe, welcoming environment for everyone.
  • Coordinate details associated with events & rentals, specifically pertaining to field & gym use. Including, but not limited to, invoice and payment processing, and communicating with contacts any prices, changes, or adjustments necessary.


Administration:



  • To assist in maintaining the security of the building during program hours.
  • Maintain the highest degree of confidentiality in members, staff and all work-related matters.
  • Complies with organization and site policies and maintains the integrity of the Salvation Army
  • To assist in collecting accurate statistical records. This includes league expense and budget reports.
  • To assist in maintaining an accurate inventory of all sport equipment, supplies and materials.
  • Creating lesson plans for internal athletic classes and clinics when required
  • To assist in the planning of the Annual Awards Banquet and other seasonal activities.
  • To keep up-to-date inventory of all program equipment (i.e. jerseys, trophies).
  • In conjunction with the Program Director, exercise final authority on all problems relating to members.


Maintenance:



  • To assist in keeping the campus clean and instructing staff members and volunteers to keep their respective areas clean and organized.
  • To assist at closing times in checking that all doors and windows are secured.
  • To assist in the proper maintenance and storage of all program supplies and equipment.


Health & Safety:



  • When requested or appropriate, give members guidance or referrals to other agencies if warranted.
  • To record all member accidents or injury, as well as referrals and personal reports.
  • To report and secure potential hazards that affect the safety and well-being of the membership.
  • To promote policies and practices intended to encourage good health habits and appropriate dress attire of Red Shield members. Should set an excellent example of deportment and attitude for fellow staff members and center members.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
  • Must understand and adhere to the organizational philosophies on safety, program standards, and Protecting the Mission policies of The Salvation Army.
  • Instruct, supervise, and support staff and volunteers that attend the community service programs when needed.


PAY RATE: $21.00-$23.00/hr.

Working Conditions

Ability to walk, stand, bend, squat, climb, kneel and twist on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, pull objects such as files, file cabinet drawers, and reach overhead. Ability to operate computer, and telephone. Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Minimum Qualifications



  • Associate Degree in relevant field and/or 2 years relevant experience
  • Must have an up-to-date CPR or willing to obtain one.
  • Valid CA Driver's License or State ID


Skills, Knowledge & Abilities



  • Driving Test and clean MVR check
  • If working in vicinity of children a criminal background check is required with certification for Protect the Mission policies and procedures.
  • Organized
  • Good communication skills
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred
