Job Description: Construction Manager
Location: Augusta, ME
Salary: $104K-118K/annual Our client is seeking an experienced Construction Manager to oversee and manage the performance of Field Construction Managers for the construction of electric substations, transmission lines, generation upgrades, and other related projects. This role involves ensuring adherence to safety, quality, schedules, budgets, and effective coordination across various teams and contractors. Key Responsibilities:
Manage the performance of Field Construction Managers for electric substations, transmission lines, and other projects.
Determine contract resource requirements, service specifications, and manage contractor performance.
Oversee coordination of field inspection and sign-offs for construction projects.
Monitor and evaluate activities of outsourced construction companies to ensure compliance with safety, quality, schedules, and budgets.
Review and evaluate contracts and agreements, providing recommendations for project execution.
Collaborate with management to resolve problems and coordinate activities with field construction managers.
Integrate construction management into the planning, scheduling, cost tracking, installation, and testing phases of projects.
Ensure Field Construction Managers obtain required materials and establish material handling plans.
Coordinate construction schedules with other functional areas within the company.
Provide constructability feedback on electrical, mechanical, protection, and civil construction standards.
Research, recommend, and implement changes as necessary to align with client standards and business area goals.
Collaborate with other business organizations, contractors, and subject matter experts to resolve disputes and prioritize business requirements.
Participate in the budget process to provide items, manpower, and control of the construction budget.
Help lead and collaborate in addressing substation and transmission system emergencies.
Identify and assess construction risks, preparing risk mitigation plans.
Adhere to company policies and safety programs, including CIP, FERC, NERC, and ISO standards.
Ensure all contractors and field construction managers comply with safety policies, maintaining a safe working environment.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent education.
7+ years of relevant experience required, with 10+ years of progressive electric utility industry experience preferred.
5+ years of supervisory experience preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, or equivalent software.
Valid Driver's License required.
Willingness to travel to construction sites and attend meetings as necessary.
Experience in Substations, T&D, Gas-Hydro, and OSG is preferred.
