Job Description: Designer

Location: Flexible (Hybrid work schedule available)

Salary: $69,010 - $99,910

Our client is seeking a Designer to join their team and contribute to various substation projects. This role involves working with engineers and designers to create detailed physical designs for substation projects, including electrical plans, grounding plans, conduit plans, control building layouts, and more. The Designer will ensure compliance with industry and utility standards while utilizing AutoCAD or MicroStation for drawing creation and updates.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Collaborate with engineers and designers to create detailed physical designs for substation projects, such as electrical plans, elevations, grounding plans, conduit and trench plans, control building layouts, and sections.



  • Handle multiple project assignments simultaneously, ensuring timely and successful completion.



  • Ensure compliance with industry and utility standards to produce new drawings and update existing drawings using AutoCAD or MicroStation.



  • Support the conceptual engineering phase by drafting key concepts needed to convey intent to the design engineer.



  • Review drawings from detailed engineering firms for compliance with CAD standards, including border and revision procedures, line and text style, and overall drawing format.



  • Review and properly file as-built drawing work for all projects.



  • Support a variety of substation projects ranging from 4kV to 500kV for clients across the country.




Qualifications:




  • At least 2 years of experience in design or drafting with a background in electrical substation design.



  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Drafting/Design preferred; minimum GED Diploma with drafting or electrical design training.



  • Physical substation design experience.



  • Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.



  • Ability to work independently with limited direction and oversight.



  • Legally authorized to work within the United States.



  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.



  • Regular, reliable availability with a hybrid work schedule (3 days per week in-office required).



  • Ability to meet deadlines and work productively.



  • Willingness to work overtime and weekends depending on project needs.
