Job Description: Civil/Structural Engineer

Location: Binghamton, NY or Rochester, NY

Salary: $74,160 - $105,060

Our client is seeking experienced Civil/Structural Engineers to join their Power & Industrial Solutions team in the Northeast. This position will involve working independently on fast-paced, technically complex design projects. The Civil/Structural Engineer will support or lead substation engineering project teams, focusing on civil and structural design for both in-ground and above-ground foundations and structures.

Key Responsibilities:




  • Support or lead the development of civil/foundation and structural calculations, plans, and details for substation projects.



  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to develop efficient and reliable civil/structural design packages for medium and high voltage substations.



  • Lead the design of civil site development, foundations, equipment support structures, control buildings, and ancillary structures.



  • Perform design studies and calculations, demonstrating a solid understanding of physical substation design.



  • Coordinate design activities to meet project schedules, budgets, and quality requirements for successful project completion.



  • Assist with site visits, station walkdowns, estimating, and attending project meetings.



  • Ensure design activities comply with applicable codes, standards, and internal policies, such as Safety, Environmental, and Quality Assurance procedures.



  • Prepare specifications for material, equipment, and construction work.



  • Deliver accurate and thorough civil/structural designs that meet industry standards and specifications.



  • Review internal and external designs for code compliance, design quality, and constructability.



  • Coordinate design activities with multi-discipline project team members.



  • Provide construction support, including resolving site queries, attending site meetings, and performing site inspections during the construction phase.



  • Maintain thorough project documentation, including engineering studies, calculations, design packages, and as-built requirements.



  • Foster good working relationships with internal teams, including engineering disciplines, Drafting, and Project Management.



  • Mentor and guide developing engineers within the department.




Qualifications:




  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an accredited institution.



  • Minimum of five (5) years of professional experience in civil/structural engineering (Senior or Intermediate positions).



  • Professional Engineer (PE) registration preferred.



  • Prior utility or utility consulting experience is a plus.



  • Strong client focus.



  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral.



  • Knowledge of industry standards, including IEEE, ANSI, NERC, and FERC regulations.



  • Ability to perform independently and within a team, taking ownership of projects.



  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and other structural design software.



  • Willingness to work additional hours as required by workload demands.
