16 Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Manager, Plant Operations, the Sr Control Room Operator is responsible for the operation of billion-dollar assets and maximizing power plant production in a safe and environmentally responsible manner while seeking continuous improvement. Monitors performance of the completion of numerous tasks carried out by a team of skilled hourly operations & maintenance personnel 24/7/365 while coordinating communications to a variety of internal & external customers. Provides guidance and coordinates overall plant operation and maintenance activities ensuring safety of personnel, reliability, and efficiency of all plant equipment. Tasks and Responsibilities
Minimum Skills Minimum Knowledge and Abilities
Experience as a CPS Energy Control Room Operator, and completion of the relief operator (RO) checkoff list.
Excellent working knowledge of all plant steam, mechanical, electrical, chemical systems, and their appropriate integration for efficient and effective production.
Ability and willingness to lead and train plant operators to fully realize maximum team potential.
Ability to coordinate numerous activities under stress, with poise and safety.
Ability to work well under pressure, remaining focused and calm in the face of distractions.
Knowledge or ability to learn SAP workflow computer application.
Exc verbal & writ comm skills, motiv, detail, active listen, spk, coord, soc percept, critical think, jdgmnt & dec making, monitor, read compre, oral compre, oral exp, spch clarity, spch recog, prob sen, writ compre, deductive rsn, inductive rsn, writ exp.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Package, including word processing, spreadsheets, database, presentation software, electronic mail & scheduling.
Ability to utilize PI Historian to trend operational parameters in support of troubleshooting efforts.
Ability to navigate to Alarm Lists and Sequence of Events reporting to identify causes of process upsets.
Ability to pass a respirator fist test and maintain facial hair in accordance with company safety policies.
Ability and willingness to work rotating shifts, overtime, storm/emergency conditions, weekends, nights, holidays, etc. Preferred Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED Required Certifications Working Environment
Indoor and outdoor work, walking, standing, sitting, hearing, bending, crouching. Employee may be subject to extreme noise, extreme temperatures, uneven ground and hazardous conditions.
Ability to operate an assigned CPS Energy motor vehicle. Use of personal computing equipment, telephone, multi-functioning printer and calculator.
Ability to travel to and from client meetings, training sessions and other business related events. Shift work and holiday hours are required. Physical Demands
Requires standing, lifting, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders. Requires wearing personal protective safety equipment.
