Job Title: Scientist

Location: Worcester, MA

Schedule: Monday-Friday, Regular Business Hours

Type: 6 months (possibility for extension)


Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented contractor to support laboratory research involving the isolation and characterization of human and monkey blood cells. This individual will play a key role in executing experiments that assess the biological activity of test compounds using various immunological and biochemical techniques.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Request and manage donor blood samples
  • Isolate primary cells from human or monkey peripheral blood
  • Set up and maintain cultures using isolated cells
  • Stimulate or differentiate cells using test compounds
  • Harvest cells and supernatants for downstream assays
  • Prepare samples for analysis
  • Perform ELISA assays to evaluate compound effector functions
  • Analyze experimental data and present findings to the research team



Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Biochemistry or related field
  • 3-5 years of laboratory experience in a biochemistry or cell biology setting
  • Hands-on experience with primary cell isolation and culture
  • Proficiency with ELISA techniques
  • Familiarity with flow cytometry (strongly preferred)



Preferred Skills and Attributes:

  • Working knowledge of basic laboratory techniques, including pipetting and sterile technique
  • Strong attention to detail and laboratory cleanliness
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, and team-oriented mindset
  • Flow cytometry experience is a significant plus
