The Office of Student Development and Success in the William States Lee College of Engineering ( LCOE) at UNC Charlotte is offering a unique opportunity for a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure-track faculty positions at the Lecturer rank. With a preferred start date of Aug 2025, this role will be involved in developing, teaching, and continuously improving the inaugural Common First Year Curriculum, which will be introduced in Fall 2025. This curriculum will be the foundation for all First Time in College ( FTIC) students.

Description of Work

Thus, the Job Responsibilities and Essential Functions for Non-Tenure Track Faculty should be interpreted in the context of the related departmental and collegiate teaching goals.

Teaching - Faculty responsibilities and essential functions with respect to teaching (including lab, studio, or production management) may include but are not limited to: subject matter competence, course design, course presentation, and grading student work.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The position's primary duties include teaching and developing with a team of faculty the Common First Year ( CFY) introductory engineering courses. The successful applicant will be an integral part of the CFY faculty team. Through collaboration, the team fosters a supportive and effective learning environment for students. Candidates must have the communication skills, energy, and passion for teaching fundamental concepts to first-year College of Engineering students. Applicants will demonstrate a commitment to excellence in higher education to students from all backgrounds and a dedication to the success of beginning College of Engineering students.
In addition, candidates actively contribute to the department's undergraduate teaching mission, provide career exploration, and support OSDS Academic Success programs and activities. Other responsibilities include but are not limited to engaging in accreditation procedures, program assessment, and service to the department, College, and University as needed.
Minimum Experience/Education

UNC Charlotte gives primary consideration to the earned masters and/or terminal degree in the teaching discipline or a related discipline.

Preferred Education, Skills and Experience
For this position candidates must hold a Bachelor's and Master's degree by the start of the appointment with at least one degree in an engineering field from an ABET accredited engineering program.
Necessary Licenses/Certifications
Licensed Professional Engineering (PE) or other professional certification is designed but not required.
