Research Associate

We are seeking a highly motivated, critical, and creative Research Associate to join the CareDx R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity to join our efforts to develop and commercialize molecular tests that address unmet clinical needs in organ transplantation and help to improve patient outcomes.

The ideal candidate should be experienced in various molecular biology techniques including extraction and analysis of nucleic acids, especially RNA. Experience with PCR amplification, Illumina NGS platforms and LIMS will be a strong plus. Furthermore, the candidate should be very detail oriented, highly organized, and dependable. Demonstrated ability to track inventories of various sample types and excellent record keeping are required. This individual should be comfortable working as part of a team and display excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities:

• Receive and process laboratory samples following standard procedures with great attention to details.
• Track and maintain sample inventory, including use of LIMS and database queries.
• Isolate RNA and DNA from human samples manually and/or on automated platforms.
• Generate sequencing libraries and perform next generation sequencing with and without automated liquid handling platforms.
• Perform gene expression analysis by qPCR, dPCR or other techniques.
• Perform basic statistical analysis of the experimental data.
• Support lab efforts to develop technologies, reagents, and controls for CareDx products.
• Keep detailed records/notebooks.
• Communicate work verbally and in writing.

Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. in Life Sciences, Molecular Biology preferred.
• Minimum of 3years laboratory experience, preferably in the biotech industry.
• Hands-on experience with and knowledge of common molecular technology methods.
• Knowledge of basic statistics and data analysis.
• Experience of working in the CLIA environment is a plus.
• Ability to work independently, collecting requirements, planning, and conducting experiments.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
• Ability to identify risk and trouble shoot.
• Excellent communication skills.
