The HR Operations Generalist supports key projects and initiatives across the Macmillan Learning People Team with a focus on HR systems, data integrity, process improvement, and scalable solutions. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working behind the scenes to improve how things work - from designing efficient workflows to surfacing insights from data to supporting cross-functional HR initiatives.

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Support HR projects related to data cleanup, process documentation, workflow automation and system optimization.
- Maintain and improve process documentation across key HR activities and systems.
- Help evaluate current tools and processes to recommend improvements and increase efficiency.
- Assist with the implementation of new HR initiatives and operational programs.
- Coordinate with cross-functional teams (IT, Payroll, Shared Services) on process handoffs, access provisioning and communication flows.
- Support audits and data integrity checks across core systems.
- Help ensure smooth onboarding/offboarding by managing workflows, tracking process completion, and assisting with documentation and communications.
- Monitor the People Team inbox and support general HR questions when needed.
- Field incoming requests for data and run reports as needed.
- Coordinate annual ML anniversary gifts.
- Assist with posting content on internal social media platforms such as LumApps.
- Understand HR policies and processes to be able to provide employees with accurate assistance when needed.
- Shared inbox monitoring for the Macmillan Learning People Team.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors Degree.
- 3+ years experience required.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Candidates should work efficiently, adapt easily, and be able to multi-task.
- Strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and exceptional computer skills, including Microsoft Suite and GSuite.
- Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion.
- Ability to learn policies and procedures quickly.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with HRIS systems (UKG preferred) and data/reporting tools.
- Experience documenting or improving processes.
- Interest in HR technology, operations, and continuous improvement.
- Understanding of general employment laws and HR best practices.
Salary Range: $60,000 - $65,000
Exemption Status: Exempt
Physical Requirements:
Requires periods of close concentration in a sometimes busy and open office; must be able to multi-task. Must be able to work over 40 hours a week occasionally.
This is a hybrid role. 1-2 days a week are required in the Austin office.
