Job Description

Commodity and Sourcing Manager

Position Summary:

Executes commodity strategy for sourcing metals and forgings to identify cost savings opportunities with both internal and external partners.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Commercial relationship / management for all suppliers of raw material, including steel, aluminum and titanium
  • Must negotiate, manage and maintain active contracts to achieve cost-savings, ensure continuity of supply and resolve commercial disputes between sites and suppliers
  • Must be able to monitor market trends, including price fluctuations and potential disruptions, to ensure consistent and timely supply
  • Drive material cost optimization initiatives through design, competitive leverage, insourcing/outsourcing, process improvements, low-cost country potential
  • Build the organization's competitive position through continuous improvement in cost, supplier value, and quality
  • Be the primary relationship owner with key suppliers, actively manage all aspects of the supplier relationship
  • Initiate supplier selection that leads to sourcing decisions with lowest total landed cost, required quality levels with minimum level of risk
  • Enlist supplier involvement in developing joint process improvements/solutions to reduce total material cost
  • Actively support new product development teams, technical commodity reviews
  • Interact with Engineering to track new initiatives, programs and new technology
  • Performs purchasing function - RFP and work transfers. Evaluate supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers
  • Travel as necessary (25-30%)

Required Skills:

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and tasks simultaneously required
  • Demonstrated track record of cost reduction is required
  • Project management experience is a plus
  • Negotiation skills, cost modeling experience is required
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills required

Experience & Education

  • Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Finance or other analytical discipline is preferred
  • Commodity management, sourcing experience required (8-10 years minimum)
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in manufacturing operations environment
  • Minimum three (3) experience with metals sourcing

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $110,000 to $145,000 US Dollar (USD) Salaried based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 3X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter . Employees will receive 120 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the company's medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
This position requires use of information or access to production processes subject to national security controls under U.S. export control laws and regulations (including, but not limited to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and the Export Administration Regulations (EAR)). To be qualified to work in this facility, a successful applicant must be a U.S. Person, as defined in those regulations, and able to supply evidence of that qualification prior to starting work or be authorized to receive controlled information under a specific license or permission from the relevant government agency.
