The Paralegal prepares first drafts of legal documents in connection with a State or local government entity's (an "Issuer") issuance of municipal bonds, notes or other debt obligations and submits drafts to attorneys for review. This role coordinates closings with clients, the Texas Attorney General's Office, and other parties in a working group. Substantive practice area knowledge can be learned while on the job, and the ideal candidate is a self-motivated, detail oriented individual with the ability to multi-task.

The role will require presence in the Dallas office from time to time pursuant to the firm's hybrid work policy. Overtime and flexibility in schedule will be required from time to time.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate various activities involved with the authorization and sale of an Issuer's bonds, closings, and elections
  • Coordinate document preparation, review and execution, keep attorneys apprised of deadlines and issues that arise during the course of a transaction
  • Assist attorney with drafting documents for tax-exempt bond financings
  • Prepare and organize necessary legal and closing documents for closings, filing and other administrative duties, as assigned
  • Coordinate and manage submissions to the Texas Attorney General
  • Prepare and assemble both paper and electronic transcripts
  • Maintain physical and electronic files
  • Prepare original files for offsite storage
  • Prepare monthly reports
  • Complete projects and tasks as assigned by supervising attorneys or senior paralegals and delegate work to and/or work with project coordinators to efficiently complete projects

Qualifications and experience:

  • Bachelor's degree strongly preferred
  • Minimum three years of transactional paralegal experience required
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines and provide proactive updates on progress
  • Ability to apply specific rules and procedures
  • Strong technology skills including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to exhibit conscientiousness, dedication, self-discipline and a sense of responsibility
  • Must be a self-starter, organized and efficient with excellent communication skills
  • Strong grammar and spelling accuracy essential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Organized and ability to prioritize
  • Ability to interact well with clients, department leadership and support staff
