This is not your typical Tax Manager role. You will help drive the creation of new and innovative Bloomberg Tax software solutions for the corporate tax industry. You will work directly with the product and engineering teams on customer discovery and product delivery and collaborate with our customer experience, marketing, and sales teams to help bring our vision to the market. You will leverage your tax expertise to provide critically important context across the business to help us make well-informed decisions about the products we build.
What you will do:
- Participate in continuous customer discovery with product and engineering team members to develop deep understanding of customer needs, market trends, and competitor insights. Share domain insights constantly with the team.
- Support ongoing product delivery efforts by addressing domain questions during development, developing test data sets, and performing UAT over completed user stories and features.
- Use your strong knowledge of corporate income tax principles to research tax issues that directly relate to product initiatives.
- Review other team members' research findings and conclusions, test data sets, thought leadership articles, etc. and generally serve as a sounding board on domain issues for the team.
- Partner with product managers to influence and help define the product area vision and strategy and work on feature discovery and release scoping.
- Review and contribute to the creation of effective tools for customer discovery (e.g., problem statements, mock-ups, prototypes) while working alongside user experience (UX) designers.
- Assist with the definition of product value proposition, contribute to product domain thought leadership, and perform product demonstrations as needed in support of customer experience, marketing, and sales teams.
- Analyze domain customer support issues by working directly with customers, researching and scoping problem, and brainstorming cost-effective solutions in coordination with the customer support team.
- Act as a thought leader in tax and accounting domain areas for the products through webinars, industry conferences and events, whitepapers, etc.
You need to have:
- Bachelor's degree required, concentration in Accounting, Finance or Economics degree strongly preferred.
- CPA or CPA-eligible strongly preferred.
- 5 years working in a corporate tax department or CPA firm or related experience.
- 2 years working within a software development organization a plus.
- Knowledge of the software development life cycle a plus.
- Willingness to travel to industry conferences and to perform customer discovery (up to 20% of time).
