DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this position, you will perform complex consultative and administrative work and supervise a team of Commodity Specialists. Work relies on your knowledge and management of statewide contracts and includes providing direction and support in the formulation and implementation of strategic commodity plans. Your responsibilities will involve building and maintaining relationships with Agency stakeholders, leading and facilitate work groups, mentoring Commodity Specialists, and providing support to the Commodity Manager.

Our team will rely on your expertise to participate in the development of procurement strategies which adhere to procurement policies, promote competition, and provide the best value to the Commonwealth as well as manage and provide direction to ensure deadlines and goals are met, including the review of contract activity, contract expiration dates to ensure that solicitations are issued timely to prevent gaps in contract execution and awards. Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to four days per week, after the initial training period. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year as a Commodity Specialist or a Quality Assurance Specialist (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job titles, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • One year of experience as a Purchasing Agent 3 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Three years of experience as a Purchasing Agent 2 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
  • Seven years of strategic procurement experience including two years of experience in the research and evaluation of commodities and suppliers; or
  • Three years of strategic procurement experience in supply chain management, and a bachelor's degree; or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training including two years of experience in supply chain management.

Additional Requirements:

  • You must have at least three years of experience in contract/supplier management or procurement processes
  • You must have at least two years of experience working with SRM/SAP.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
