The Opportunity:

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company is looking for a dedicated R&D Engineer optimize our Biopharma Production organization. This Bridgewater, NJ/ Innovation Center role is full-time, on-site.

What we are looking for

* Up to 20%

Experience:

Required (5+ years with Bachelor's degree; 3+ years with MS degree; 0- 2 yrs with PHD degree).

  • Supporting process equipment suppliers, facilities and engineering personnel to develop appropriate user requirement records to ensure reliable process system design.
  • Managing of change management documentation and/or other equipment records.
  • In the case of equipment optimizations, supporting the execution of reliability improvement efforts to identify root cause and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence malfunctions ensuring that all aspects of an operation or process meet specified regulations.
  • Observing processes and independently developing innovative solutions to solve problems.
  • Independently driving the execution of improvement projects.
  • Compiling and analyzing experimental data using statistical tools.
  • Communicating with customers to clearly define deliverables, gather customer feedback, and support project activities.
  • Implementing innovative approaches and new methodologies by reviewing literature and participating in discussions.
  • Presenting the analytical findings, project outcomes, and value propositions at internal or customer meetings, industry associations, and conferences.
  • Conducting laboratory experiments, manufacturing operations, in project planning and performance
  • Driving collaboration within R&D and cross-functional groups on key application strategies.
  • Experience working within a GLP/cGMP environment
  • Collaborative and inter-personal skills
  • Business level presentation, written and verbal communication skills
  • Interpreting an extensive variety of information in written verbal and diagram formats.
  • Collaborative decision-making skills
  • Excellent analytical thinking and negotiation skills

Preferred:

  • Developing product application ideas and formulating concepts for feasibility
  • Evaluating manufacturability to commercializes products utilizing equipment and systems to process recombinant proteins, antibodies, viral vectors, and mRNA.
  • Creating project plans of low complexity to jointly work with manufacturing and technical personnel to optimize scalable processes that meets pre-establish quality and productivity criteria.
  • Supporting activities to upgrade process equipment to improve quality, safety, and reliability; this includes the associated design, procurement and qualification requirements for the equipment and/or systems.
  • Simultaneously executing tasks to complete projects within the desired timeframe
  • Project management
  • Employing innovative approaches to achieve objectives.
  • Conducting hands-on laboratory experiments for cell growth, culture harvesting, molecular interaction studies, product stability studies, and
  • sample analysis using purification chromatography systems such as affinity, ion-exchange, hydrophobic interaction and mixed-mode chromatography.
  • Complying with all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
  • Leading and coaching others in maintaining excellence on cGMP, quality control, and safety.
  • Hands-on experience in protein purification, chemical/biological analysis, synthesis, and molecular biology techniques are strongly preferred.
  • Reading, analyzing, and interpreting common and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
  • Participating in innovation/application strategy planning sessions.
  • Organization and prioritization skills
  • Gathering and creating market reports by conducting voice-of-customer type activities.

The R&D Engineer will engage with innovative product and application ideas to address current and future challenges in biomanufacturing processes. This role involves hands-on execution of laboratory studies and/or technology projects designed to support customer's product needs, from conception to completion, in close collaboration with internal or external partners. In this dynamic position, the R&D Engineer will be responsible for developing and

leading activities to optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring the reliability and scalability of processes & associated equipment, bringing new products into production. This role will work within a cross-functional team to effectively connect lab study data with production capabilities and bring new technologies into the manufacturing environment while following appropriate change management policies and procedures ensuring timely project completion. As part of the customer engagement model and service satisfaction, the Process Engineer will travel and work at customer sites as needed to successfully implement applications.
