R&D Applications Scientist

Avantor, a Global Fortune 500 company is looking for a dedicated R&D Applications Scientist to optimize our Biopharma Production organization. This Bridgewater, NJ/ Innovation Center role is full-time, on-site.

What we are looking for

• Bachelor's degree

Travel:

• Up to 20%

Experience:

Required: (5+ years with Bachelor's degree; 3+ years with MS degree; 0- 2 yrs with PHD degree).

• Compiling and analyzing experimental data using statistical tools.
• Hands-on skills in protein purification, chemical/biological analysis, synthesis, and molecular biology techniques are strongly preferred.
• Conducting hands-on experiments using purification chromatography systems such as affinity, ion-exchange, hydrophobic interaction and mixed-mode chromatography.
• Conducting project planning, laboratory experiments, execution.
• Driving collaboration within R&D and cross-functional groups on key application strategies
• Presenting analytical findings, project outcomes, and value propositions at internal or customer meetings, industry associations, and conferences.
• Collaborative, inter-personal and decision-making skills
• Business level presentation, written and verbal communication skills
• Detail oriented; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Strong sense of urgency, initiative, and drive for results

Preferred:

• Developing product application ideas and formulating concepts for testing, evaluating feasibility, to commercializes products and processes involving recombinant proteins, antibodies, viral vectors, and mRNA.
• Creating project plans of low complexity and simultaneously execute tasks to complete projects within the desired timeframe, employing innovative approaches to achieve objectives.
• Communicating with customers to clearly define deliverables, gather customer feedback, and support project activities.
• Performing laboratory experiments for cell growth, culture harvesting, molecular interaction studies, product stability studies, and sample analysis using bioanalytical techniques such as UV-spectrophotometry, ELISA, HPLC, and SDS-PAGE.
• Working within a GLP/cGMP environment
• Reading, analyzing, and interpreting technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
• Gathering and creating market reports by conducting voice-of-customer type activities.
• Strategy planning sessions.
• Complying with all safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures.
• Interpreting an extensive variety of information in written verbal and diagram formats
• Project management
• Proactively identifying and implementing innovative approaches and new methodologies by reviewing literature and participating in discussions.

While learning and adapting curiosity, high energy and drive to get things done; the R&D Applications R&D Applications Scientist will engage with innovative product and application ideas to address current and future challenges in biomanufacturing processes. This role involves hands-on execution of laboratory studies and/or technology projects designed to support customer's product needs, from conception to completion, in close collaboration with internal or external partners. In this dynamic position, the R&D Applications Scientist will provide technical services to customer's application challenges by planning and defining project activities in partnership with Quality, Operations, Project Management, Strategic Marketing, Sales, and Supply Chain. This role will utilize novel scientific approaches and tools to advance initiative's execution within a cross-functional environment, ensuring timely project completion. As part of the customer engagement model and service satisfaction, the R&D Applications Scientist will travel and work at customer sites as needed to successfully implement applications.
