About Rivian

Rivian is on a mission to keep the world adventurous forever. This goes for the emissions-free Electric Adventure Vehicles we build, and the curious, courageous souls we seek to attract.

As a company, we constantly challenge what's possible, never simply accepting what has always been done. We reframe old problems, seek new solutions and operate comfortably in areas that are unknown. Our backgrounds are diverse, but our team shares a love of the outdoors and a desire to protect it for future generations.

Role Summary

As the Senior Specialist of Responsible Sourcing, you will contribute to the execution of Rivian's Responsible Sourcing program and initiatives, and will be engaged with the various cross functional teams and key business partners to deliver the company's sustainability objectives. You will support implementing and monitoring social and environmental goals and strategies across the supply chain, including both the integrated manufacturing locations as well as the contracted supply chain. This is an excellent opportunity to help build and execute Responsible Sourcing throughout Rivian's value chain (including supply chain labor, human rights, ethics, responsible business practices, and environment). The role reports directly to the Senior Director of Sustainability and must be able to commute to a Rivian office on a hybrid schedule (locations include Irvine, CA, Palo Alto, CA, Plymouth, MI, Atlanta, GA, Normal, IL).

Responsibilities

  • Lead Rivian's supplier social and environmental assessment program including supplier outreach, data analysis and reporting on programmatic elements, corrective action plan management, and recommending process refinements based on findings.
  • Develop and manage project plans including the yearly calendar for the program cycle, clear documentation organization and tracking, and clear effective reporting for internal and executive audiences. Continue to build evergreen program documentation and support the development of repeatable processes.
  • Execute strategies to identify, assess, and mitigate social and environmental risks throughout the supply base by working with Supply Chain and other cross-functional business partners.
  • Develop materials for educating both internal teams and suppliers on Rivian's social and environmental requirements and the programs and processes for monitoring them.
  • Research best practices, emerging trends, on-the-ground developments, and regulatory requirements, analyze implications to our responsible sourcing strategy and approach and recommend best practice solutions.
  • Assist in developing best-practice responsible sourcing program policies and processes.
  • Contribute to additional projects as needed.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years working in the field of sustainability, responsible sourcing, and/or human rights, automotive experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of best practices for responsible sourcing and human rights in supply chains, with a preference for experience managing supplier social and environmental assessment programs.
  • Understanding of and experience with the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) or similar industry standards, initiatives and disclosure requirements aimed at driving supply chain responsibility.
  • Excellent program management skills with a proven record of seeing complex and multistakeholder projects through from ideation to completion.
  • Effective collaborator and team oriented mind-set, with willingness to drive change.
  • Strong analytical and structured problem-solving capabilities with a focus on data driven action and results.
  • Able to travel on an as needed basis.
  • Able to work efficiently under a high amount of work/stress.
