MongoDB's mission is to empower innovators to create, transform, and disrupt industries by unleashing the power of software and data. We enable organizations of all sizes to easily build, scale, and run modern applications by helping them modernize legacy workloads, embrace innovation, and unleash AI. Our industry-leading developer data platform, MongoDB Atlas, is the only globally distributed, multi-cloud database and is available in more than 115 regions across AWS, Google Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. Atlas allows customers to build and run applications anywhere-on premises, or across cloud providers. With offices worldwide and over 175,000 new developers signing up to use MongoDB every month, it's no wonder that leading organizations, like Samsung and Toyota, trust MongoDB to build next-generation, AI-powered applications.

MongoDB is seeking a Senior Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) for our R&D Business Partnering team. You will set the direction for how we improve the "customer experience" for our senior stakeholders in R&D (the CTO and CPO organizations); offer data-driven insights into our R&D investments; and establish strong relationships with Finance, Operations, and People team partners that are critical to our success. The Senior Analyst will be accountable for day-to-day operational excellence, while incubating and driving big picture initiatives.

This will be a hybrid in-office/remote role for candidates who plan to be available in our New York City office for approximately 2-3 days per week (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday).

Responsibilities:

The Senior Analyst is expected to make significant contributions to the success of MongoDB by enabling executives and team leaders to make better decisions that are informed by financial and operational data.

  • Building Relationships: Establish and own positive relationships and become a "source of truth" and reliable partner for our Product and Engineering business partners. Learn their organizations so that we can connect the dots between the R&D environment, the themes in other areas of the business, and MongoDB's company objectives
  • Forecasting and Budgeting: Coordinate these processes with VP-level stakeholders, honing in on the key levers for growth and investment and prioritizing the key risks Headcount planning and optimization is a key focus; you will partner with Recruiting and HR partners to drive efficiencies in workforce planning and reporting
  • Financial Hygiene: Perform financial month-end close activities, including headcount reconciliations, accrual reviews, and budget vs. actuals analysis and reporting
  • Operational Effectiveness: Improve and scale business, operational and financial processes from idea to adoption, including getting buy-in from important stakeholders and partners. Examples include standardizing and automating reports on headcount and improving how we leverage internal systems
  • Data Analysis and Decision Support Modeling: Conduct ad-hoc analyses and build financial models and spreadsheet/dashboard tools to guide leaders towards efficient operating strategies, resource allocation, and investments in product initiatives

By the end of 90 days, a successful Senior Analyst will be the primary owner of the monthly close process ("Financial Hygiene" above) and take lead on FY27 budget discussions with a select group of VP+ stakeholders in the MongoDB Engineering and Product organization.

What You'll Need:

  • 2 to 5 years of experience in FP&A, financial services, management consulting, or data analytics
  • Proficiency in spreadsheet modeling and conducting analyses across multiple data sources and systems; familiarity with financial planning tools (Workday Adaptive, Anaplan, etc.) is a plus
  • Reputation for curiosity (re: the work of our stakeholders and partners) and for building systems and investing in people
  • Proven track record of creating structure, prioritizing, and meeting timelines in situations that are uncertain or ambiguous
  • Persuasive and concise communications when you analyze data, draw conclusions, and develop actionable recommendations. Prior experience taking analysis and insights all the way through to execution and adoption
