Purpose and Use: Under general supervision, this position investigates billing inquiries, responds to customers' questions/concerns, records electric and gas volume usage by residential and commercial customers, and performs manual reads/audits as necessary. In addition, incumbents assist with the operation and maintenance of the Automated Meter Reading (AMR) system and provide backup to the Customer Service Representatives and Field Service Representatives in the Customer Data Services section as needed. Examples of Work Performed:
- Schedules and performs Field Investigation Request appointments.
- Reviews billing information with customers and advises them on appliance energy costs.
- Conducts billing and diversion investigations.
- Visually checks gas and electric meter installations for problems that could result in energy usage being improperly recorded.
- Operates various Company vehicles to perform investigations and to drive daily mobile routes using the Mobile Collector/Mobile Collector Lite/FC300 as necessary.
- Observes and reports problems for the Gatekeeper program.
- Assists with the operation and maintenance of the mobile AMR system and its associated equipment to ensure its proper operation.
- Provides backup to the Customer Service Representatives and Field Service Representatives as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Manager - Customer Data Services.
Qualifications Education and Experience:
- Typically evidenced by a high school diploma or its equivalent.
- Typically a minimum of three years of experience as a Field Service Representative or equivalent to be eligible to promote to Field Inspector.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Strong ability to work across multiple computer systems and software programs.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to deal positively with customers in all types of situations and promote good customer relations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities including the ability to deal with multiple variables in situations where limited standardization exists.
- Strong communication skills including the ability to speak effectively with customers and other Company employees.
- Ability to write routine reports/correspondence and express those results orally.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw/interpret bar graphs.
- Ability to maintain a valid Wisconsin Driver's License in good standing as determined by the Company.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.
- Ability to work in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to frequently climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Ability to work safely around moving mechanical parts and in high, precarious locations.
