Cognizant is looking for a Lead Backend Engineer, and individual responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the server side of web applications. This includes developing and maintaining backend APIs, databases, and other infrastructure. The Backend Engineer will also work with front-end engineers to integrate their work with the backend.

Responsibilities

* Design, develop, and maintain backend APIs

* Develop and maintain databases

* Implement security measures

* Work with front-end engineers to integrate their work with the backend

* Troubleshoot and debug backend issues

* Stay up-to-date on the latest technologies

Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field

* 7+ years of experience in backend development

* Strong understanding of object-oriented programming

* Experience with a variety of programming languages, including Java, Python, and C++

* Experience with any of the cloud computing platforms, such as AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud Platform

* Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

* Reactive programming

* Familiarity with servers

* Knowledge of APIs

* Version control and version control systems

* Knowledge of data structures and algorithms

* Integration of data sources and databases into a single system

* User authentication and authorization between multiple systems and servers

* Expertise in JS, ReactJS, VueJS, AngularJS, and jQuery

* Write clean and maintainable code

* Understanding cross-platform functionality and compatibility of applications

* Excellent foundation in computer science, algorithms, and web design

* Experience in writing highly secure web applications

* Growth mindset that challenges the status quo and focuses on outside-the-box ideas and solutions

* Good understanding of the entire product development process

* Technical and consumer awareness

* The ideal candidate almost exclusively deals with server components. Their main responsibilities may include database management server-side scripting and API governance.

* S/he is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining the server side of web applications. They manage servers, and APIs, design scalable architecture, and implement security measures. They also focus on web services and the data store (data modeling and databases).

* The candidate needs to have a wide range of skills, roles, and responsibilities, all of which are important to building the technical infrastructure of modern applications. They should have extensive knowledge about Python and Java since they are the most in-demand technologies. They should also be proficient in version control systems like Git, GitHub, and GitLab. A thorough understanding of CI/CD is a must

The annual salary for this position is between $121,000.00 - 140,000.00 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
