Why This Role Matters As the Head of Commercial Banking, you will lead and inspire our Commercial Lending business development team, playing a pivotal role in shaping and executing our business lending strategy. Your focus will be on driving sustainable loan growth through proactive origination, deepening client relationships, and building strategic partnerships. You will collaborate closely with Commercial Operations to foster a strong and seamless relationship between sales and operations, ensuring excellence in credit quality and service delivery. As a leader, you will coach and mentor Commercial Relationship Officers, empowering them to exceed performance targets and deliver outstanding client experiences. What You'll Do Commercial Lending Business Development & Strategy:
- Lead Business Development efforts by identifying, developing, and closing new commercial lending opportunities.
- Drive loan growth by achieving and exceeding business lending goals through effective prospecting and relationship management.
- Develop strategic partnerships by growing and cultivating relationships with external centers of influence. Participate in industry and community events.
- Maintain and deepen current relationships to ensure long-term satisfaction and retention.
- Drive strategic initiatives aligned with UKFCU's lending goals, working closely with Senior Management.
- Monitor industry trends, competitor activities, and market changes to guide strategy and identify new opportunities.
Team Leadership:
- Mentor and coach Commercial Relationship Officers to meet sales goals and service standards.
- Provide leadership and technical expertise to support employee growth.
- Monitor team performance and provide regular feedback and coaching.
- Responsible for reporting on business development activities and loan production.
Collaboration:
- Work closely with Commercial Operations to streamline processes, improve service delivery, and uphold credit quality standards.
- Maintain vendor and partner relationships to support business development and service delivery.
- Underwrite loans within delegated authority and present recommendations to senior leaders as needed.
- Collaborate with credit analysts to ensure timely completion of annual loan portfolio reviews to evaluate borrower risk and creditworthiness.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and audit standards.
Qualifications
Who You Are Experience & Education
- 5-10 years of experience in commercial lending preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in business, finance, or equivalent experience.
- Proven track record of success in team management and relationship development.
