- Manage the engagement team and the overall engagement for each assigned client.
- Serve as client's trusted accountant and supervise the monthly close and all client deliverables such as monthly financials, annual budgeting, and audit preparations.
- Build a thorough understanding and deep knowledge of each client's operations, procedures, and internal policies.
- Train and supervise senior and staff accountants to ensure that objectives are accomplished effectively and efficiently and assist in completing these objectives when necessary.
- Follow and maintain work progress during the engagement in relation to budgeted time and scheduled dates of completion.
- Prepare/review the client billing history, engagement letters, and planning for approval by Managing Director.
- Analyze job overruns and present possible additional billing to the Managing Director for approval as well as discuss the additional billing with the client.
- Participate in new client development in partnership with upper management: attend prospective client meetings; assist with presentations and proposal development; and identify and pursue cross serve opportunities.
- Proactively look for financial or operational challenges to solve.
- Other functions may include assisting with the identification and implementation of different accounting software or other complimentary 3rd-party systems (payroll, POS, time & billing, etc).
- Foster a team environment; demonstrate support of management and decisions and build a positive culture.
- Able to visit local client sites as needed.
- Responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of senior and staff accountants
- Responsible for interviewing new staff; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and facilitating the resolution of problems
- Involved in other department-wise training and management, to include involvement on the training or onboarding committee, and other department leadership and supervisory roles
- Additional responsibilities as assigned
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Accounting, Taxation or related field
- Active CPA or equivalent certification
- Extensive experience with cloud-based systems (such as QBO, NetSuite, Yardi, Bill.com, Gusto, Avalara, etc.), including video conferencing
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
Minimum Qualifications Required
- Bachelor's degree
- 6 years of experience in public accounting or related field
- 3 years supervisory experience
- Ability to manage all aspects of client engagements
- Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of organization, both internally and externally
The annual salary target for this job in this market is $120,000 - $160,000 The specific compensation for this role will be determined based on the education, experience, and skill set of the individual selected for this position.
