Human Resource Professional - California Region

As part of the newly formed California HR sub-team, you will serve as an on-site Human Resources Generalist, supporting the expanding workforce across Hyundai's California operations-including Design, Quality, and Engineering departments. This role combines HR coordination, talent acquisition, and HR business partner functions in a hybrid capacity, reporting to the Michigan-based HR Manager.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

General HR & Compliance Support



  • Serve as the first point of contact for HR-related inquiries across California sites.
  • Ensure compliance with California labor laws, local policies, and internal guidelines.
  • Support regional HR operations such as onboarding, offboarding, HRIS maintenance, and personnel records.
  • Maintain and update all required legal postings and compliance documents.
  • Participate in planning and executing internal audits and training to ensure adherence to labor regulations.


Recruiting & Talent Acquisition



  • Own full-cycle recruitment for assigned California roles, partnering with hiring managers to identify, attract, and retain top talent.
  • Create, post, and manage job postings on relevant platforms (LinkedIn, Indeed, ZipRecruiter, Hired, Monster, Handshake, Glassdoor, etc.).
  • Source passive and active candidates using creative sourcing strategies and tools like LinkedIn Recruiter.
  • Conduct resume screenings, phone interviews, and facilitate scheduling and feedback for hiring managers.
  • Support offer processes and provide onboarding assistance for new hires.


Business Partner Collaboration



  • Collaborate with business leaders across CA sites to understand workforce needs and drive HR solutions that align with operational objectives.
  • Provide support in employee relations, performance management, and workforce planning.
  • Assist in leading or facilitating training and employee development programs, including orientations and team-building events.
  • Participate in early engagement for new organizational initiatives, relocations, and job realignments within California.


Other Assigned Tasks



  • Assist in planning employee engagement and charity events.
  • Prepare reports and metrics related to recruiting, headcount, and employee engagement.
  • Travel within California and occasionally to other U.S. sites may be required (up to 10%).

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT

  • Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • Adaptability to a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Familiarity with California employment laws strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with HRIS platforms.
  • Passion for building positive candidate and employee experiences.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING TO THE ROLE

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 2-6 years of experience in human resources, talent acquisition, or a related field.
  • Travel domestic and international up to 5%
  • Travel within California and occasionally to other U.S. sites may be required (up to 10%).
  • Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai and KIA must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.
