Research Associate - Surgery

The lab of Dr. Ramiah Jacks is seeking candidates for a Research Associate position. The successful candidate will contribute to an active, interdisciplinary research project focused on examining the establishment and contribution of adipose tissue immune cells, specifically T cells, to obesity-associated adipose tissue inflammation, insulin resistance, and systemic immune dysfunction using mouse models and human tissue.

Primary Responsibilities

• Generate and maintain mouse lines.

• Perform metabolic phenotyping tests including glucose tolerance and insulin tolerance tests in mice.

• Assist in flow cytometric, confocal microscopic, and sequencing experimentation and analysis of adipose tissue and adipose tissue immune cells.

• Manages ordering of lab supplies and maintenance of laboratory activities.

• Contribute to project reports, presentations, and publications.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Physiology, Immunology, or other related field, or equivalent experience required; 3 years of relevant experience required with Associate's Degree, or 1 years of relevant experience required with Bachelor's Degree. Masters degree preferred.

• Mouse handling and metabolic phenotyping experience in mice is required.

• Experience with flow cytometry, confocal microscopy, and RNA/single cell sequencing techniques are preferred, but not required.
