Job Description:

The Feed Ingredient Purchasing Material Panner is based in Goldsboro, NC, and works closely with various department personnel. Daily tasks include the procurement and payment of feed ingredients, goods and services. This role is responsible for developing and executing purchase requests for multiples feed mills by monitoring inventories, projecting ingredients needs, obtaining price quotes from suppliers, and computer entry if order data.

* Research and recommend new policies and/or procedures related to procurement based on new and innovative changes in the industry.

* Maintains awareness of new products, vendors, technologies, and procedures developed within the industry to ensure the company remains competitive in all areas of material planning and purchasing.

* Implements and trains designated location on procurement policies and procedures. Audits periodically to ensure compliance and participate in month end reconciliation and annual audits.

* Responsible for contacting suppliers to schedule truck and rail deliveries, monitoring active shipments including problem resolution due to shortages, delays and, work with feed mill staff to track orders to ensure timely delivery including problem resolution with provider for inbound trucks and rail and transload

* Research and makes recommendations for strategic planning and goal setting such as cost savings, backorders, and training in procurement related to assigned location.

* Work Closely with Feed Mill personnel to monito weekly ingredients usage and inventory to ensure that the proper raw materials are ordered for Production to prevent shortages or overstock situations.

* Develops and maintains vendor relationships including addressing performance concerns and ensuring both parties are set up for success. Responsible for ensuring all issues are resolved in a timely manner without disruption to product distribution.

* Responsible for evaluating problems and finding and communicating resolutions organization-wide and with external vendors and customers.

* Identifies, evaluates, and recommends new vendors or utilizes an existing resource for new products. Collaborates cross-functionally to validate vendors for specific products.

* Directly negotiate pricing for finished goods and feed ingredients, vendor agreements, and purchase orders.

* Requests and reviews of vendor documentation of materials prior to purchase, follow up with suppliers as needed, to confirm pricing and scheduling changes.

* Reviews all applicable project files and cost savings spreadsheets ensuring updates are documented and remain in compliance with all internal, contractual, and regulatory requirements.

* Prepares spreadsheets and presentations utilized for forecasting, performance metrics, and cost savings, bid preparation, month end reports, and ad hoc reports as needed.

* Facilitates communication between facilities, relevant information is gathered and shared for organizational awareness, problem resolution, and any corrective actions needed.

* Guides or participates in internal and external conference calls and meetings.

* Updates costing monthly based on new raw material prices or any changes that have impacted finished goods costs. Communicates cost to facility and internal customers.

* Maintains a thorough knowledge of all operational and food safety requirements.

* Match Supplier Invoices and liaise with AP to ensure timely payment of vendor invoices

* Cross trains to provide support in other areas of purchasing as needed.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Minimum Qualifications (Educations & Experience)

* Highschool diploma, GED, or equivalent

* 3+ years of experience or the knowledge, skills, and abilities to succeed in the role

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Bachelor's degree in business, Economics, or a related field

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

* Advanced knowledge of SAP computer systems

* MTech or similar system

* Manufacturing knowledge

* Account payable knowledge

* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Word, Excel, and Power Point

* Solid project management skills with the ability to effectively guide multiple processes through successful completion

* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills

* Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to foster relationships

* Solid organization, coordination, negotiation, data accuracy, and facilitation skills

Physical Demands

* While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be regularly required to stand, sit, talk, hear, reach, stoop, kneel, and use hands and fingers to operate a

* computer, telephone, keyboard, and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Working Conditions

* Office and Plant work environments. Possibility of being exposed to varying conditions in the Plant setting, such as cold areas, warm areas, chemicals, loud noise levels, and other site conditions.

* Work in office environment revolves around use of telephones, personal computers, and printers.

* Physical requirements of the position may include standing, sitting, and walking for greater than 1/3 of the day and seldom to occasional lifting of less than 30 pounds.

* Willingness and ability to travel up to 30% of the time

* Able to work weekends and holidays in rotation as needed.
