The Corvallis Clinic Surgical Center Endoscopy Technician works with the endoscopy team to treat patients with gastrointestinal problems. Endoscopy techs will interact with patients, physicians and nurses to perform duties and other related procedures including; preparing the room and equipment, assisting with procedures and specimen collection, cleaning and disinfection of equipment, and maintaining stock supplies. The endoscopy tech is accountable for the quality and reliability in completing assigned tasks and in the delivery of patient care. The endoscopy tech follows established standards and guidelines in accordance with Corvallis Clinic Surgical Center Policies and Procedures.

Primary Responsibilities:



  • Participates in and maintains a culture within The Corvallis Clinic consistent with the content outlined in Policies and Procedures. The employee will embrace the mission and values of the Corvallis Clinic Surgery Center to provide excellent care for our patients, staff, physicians, and all facility visitors
  • Works within scope of practice to assist the RN in implementing the plan of patient care. Assists to place patient monitoring devices including, blood pressure cuffs, surgical cautery pads, cardiac monitoring electrodes, pulse oximeter sensors, and nasal cannulas as directed
  • Knowledge and ability to prepare set-ups, materials, and equipment for cases as needed and assists gastroenterologists and Registered Nurses with endoscopic procedures as directed to provide efficient flow and completion of the schedule
  • Understands concepts of cleaning, high level disinfection, and sterilization
  • Follows manufacturer's instructions for use of endoscopes, electronic imaging equipment and troubleshoots equipment to ensure proper function and maintains a safe environment for personnel and patient safety. Notifies appropriate personal promptly of equipment problems/repair needs
  • Assists to place patient monitoring devices including, blood pressure cuffs, surgical cautery pads, cardiac monitoring electrodes, pulse oximeter sensors, and nasal cannulas as directed by the Registered Nurse.
  • Assist in collection and complete labeling of specimens, documentation in specimen log. Communicates with the lab as necessary
  • Validates/refreshes knowledge and skills regularly and attends/participates in assigned in-service and performance improvement opportunities
  • Participates in supplies ordering and storage, and resources management
  • Performs all additional duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:



  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current CPR certification
  • Knowledge of technical requirements for most endoscopy procedures, time management to organize, plan, and complete work in the required timeframe
  • Demonstrated ability to work compatibly with physicians, patients and other staff
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and cope with the hazards of a busy, fast paced work environment
  • Proven good verbal and written communication skills



Preferred Qualifications:



  • 1+ years of experience as an endoscopy tech. Other experience may include unencumbered license as CNA1 or CNA2
  • Experience in computer applications
  • Experience in medical terminology



Position Specific Requirements:



  • Physical Demands

    • Physical guidelines include ability to stand/sit for up to eight hours/day, bend, stoop, twist; manual dexterity to wash and prepare instruments, ability to lift and/or pull up to 50 pounds. Ability to position patients, transport patients by cart or wheelchair, and lifting, moving or transporting supplies, instruments and equipment within reasonable weight limits


  • Work Environment

    • Regular exposure to patient and environmental conditions, and some unpleasant sights, smells and contagious diseases





The hourly range for this role is $16.88 to $33.22 per hour based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
