The Department of Biology in the Eberly College of Arts and Sciences at West Virginia University is currently accepting applications for a Temporary Research Technician.

About the Opportunity

This research technician position is intended to assist the ecology faculty members in the biology department with field and lab work. The position will primarily support the aims of Steve Kannenberg's NSF DISES grant but will also assist other personnel as needed.

What You'll Do



  • Plan, organize, and assist with field and lab work.


Pay Grade: 15

Work Hours: 30 Hours per Week

Length of Assignment: Approximately 3 Months

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in biology or very closely related field
  • 0-6 months of experience in the following:

    • Experience following health and safety protocols in biology.
    • Technical writing skills in Biology.
    • Experience conducting independent research projects.


  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered.
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment.


Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities



  • Ability to conduct fieldwork and learn laboratory techniques.

  • Hike for ~3 hours (Weekly)
  • Core trees and soils (Weekly)
