As a Senior Estimator, you will have the opportunity to lead and contribute to exciting projects that shape our communities. Your expertise will be valued as you work onsite, ensuring the accurate estimation of costs and timelines for our construction projects. What Would You Do AS A SeNIOR eSTIMATOR?
- Lead and mentor a team of estimators, providing guidance, training, and support to ensure consistent high-quality work.
- Develop and implement strategies for the estimating department, aligning with company goals and market trends.
- Create and manage construction cost estimates for building projects at various stages of a project, including conceptual, schematic, design-development, and construction drawings.
- Perform detailed quantity take-offs from construction drawings using electronic/on-screen takeoff software and models.
- Partner with architects and consultants to clarify and document the scope of work, materials, and schedule requirements.
- Collaborate with project management, business development, and executive teams to develop winning bid strategies and pricing models.
- Lead the preparation of bid proposals, ensuring they are thorough, accurate, and submitted on time.
- Conduct reviews of milestone documents for the development and pricing of value alternative opportunities.
- Assemble the final estimate for presentation to the owner.
- Lead the internal estimate review process.
- Solicit and qualify subcontractor/vendor quotes; assemble, maintain, and monitor a qualified bidders list for projects.
- Visit project sites to evaluate existing conditions. Identify and capture scope not included in design documents.
- Prepare scope sheets for bid analysis and analyze bid scopes from prospective bidders.
- Evaluate subcontractor and supplier bids, negotiate pricing, and establish partnerships that enhance project profitability and execution.
- Establish and maintain quality control procedures for the estimation process, ensuring all estimates meet the company's standards.
- Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks associated with project estimating and bidding
EXPERINCE AND EDUCATION NEEDED
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or Construction Engineering preferred.
- Minimum of 8 - 10 years of progressive experience in construction cost estimating or project management.
- Prefer candidates proficient in building/estimating techniques and software: Sage Timberline, Digital Takeoff
(Planswift), Bluebeam/PDF, Google Earth, Revit, Sketchup.

- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high performing team.
- Expert knowledge of construction costs, methods, materials, and subcontractor capabilities.
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and decision-making skills, with a keen attention to detail.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.
- Proven track record of successful bid management and project execution in a competitive construction market.
- Demonstrates positive attitude, integrity, and social/cultural awareness and sensitivity.
- Developed problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
- Ability to synthesize cost data from a wide range of sources into a conceptual estimate.
- Maintains a "value-added" approach to estimating.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal Journey Construction clients.
- Proficient in applicable computer programs including Microsoft Office, Sage Timberline, Digital Takeoff (Planswift), Bluebeam/PDF, and Google Earth.
