Aseptic Mixer I- Team C

Pay Rate: $28.10 Plus $2.00 shift differential

Schedule: 5:30AM - 6:00PM 12-hour shifts 2-2-3

Supervisor: Matt Long


Job Summary:
Mixer I is responsible for mixing or blending a variety of raw ingredients to produce high quality, plant-based products. These tasks include ingredient verification, coordination, equipment setup and shutdown, equipment sanitization, and continuous testing and monitoring of both the product and the equipment.

Essential Functions of the Job:




  • Ability to independently run the mixing area, with little supervision.
  • Understand how to coordinate raw materials and verify in comparison with batch sheet.
  • Ability to set up and shut down equipment and understand the entire flow of process of mixing.
  • Know the basic flow of production and mixing area terminology.
  • Accurately scan ingredients and materials to proper batch locations within Oracle.
  • Promptly communicate any delays or problems following batch sheets to Lead.
  • Monitor the mixing operation ensuring ingredients are correct through the staging and mixing process of the product.
  • Identify all mixing area critical control points with the understanding of their function.
  • Accurately prepare and complete all documentation, including quality checks, sanitation checklists, and batch sheets.
  • Ability to understand the importance of our quality standards, minimize scrap, and maximize production output.
  • All other duties as assigned.



Key Accountabilities:

Safety



  • Adheres to all plant safety rules.
  • Reports all near misses and accidents to the Production Supervisor or HR representative.
  • Serves an active role in the plant safety programs, by participating in monthly safety inspections and reporting any potential safety hazards to the safety committee or Management team.


Quality



  • Adheres to all Quality Assurance System guidelines.
  • Follow SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) and SSOP's (Sanitation Standard Operating Procedures) to ensure the manufacturing of high-quality aseptic products.
  • Responsible for compliance with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) and Safe Quality Food (SQF) programs.


Housekeeping



  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assists all areas of the plant with general housekeeping.
  • Cooperates with other shifts and the management team in housekeeping endeavors.


Communications



  • As a member of the Production team, ensures the effective shift communication and teamwork with the other operators occurs with all shifts.
  • Maintains effective communication with members of the support group.


Personal Development



  • Continuous improvement of knowledge of the production areas.
  • Become familiar with SunOpta 360.
  • Completes and adheres to the annual alchemy schedule.


Qualifications:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, climb, bend, squat, throughout the shift, up to (12) hours.
  • You must be able to lift to a maximum of fifty pounds.
  • Must be able to push/pull pallet jacks and lifts with heavy loads.
  • Understands and follows procedures for all allergens and how to prevent cross contamination.
  • Must adhere to all GMP's and Safety Procedures established by Management.
  • Ability to assess a situation and make quick, accurate decisions that will aid in production.
  • Must have good personal hygiene.
  • Must have basic math skills including weight calculations, averages, and percentage calculation methods.
  • Mechanical and troubleshooting skills - learn to perform and be involved with routine maintenance.
  • Able to work (12) hour shifts, as well as any overtime that may be scheduled when additional coverage is needed.
  • Works with minimal amount of supervision.
  • Must be able to accurately scan raw ingredients.


Education



  • High school diploma or equivalent required.


Experience



  • Entry Level


Knowledge and Skills:



  • Must be able to read and write in English.
  • Ability to use critical thinking to plan and solve problems independently.
  • Must possess the knowledge and understanding of basic math skills including weight calculations, averages and percentages.


Work Environment/Physical Demands:



  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, ability to bend, stretch, push, pull, grab, stir, and move as needed, reach, clean, climb, service machinery, and go up and down stairs on a continual basis.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Ability to lift, push, carry, or pull up to 50 pounds regularly.
  • Approximately 100% of the work performed is in a manufacturing facility, non-climate controlled.
  • Exposure to wet and/or humid conditions, heat, and cold environments.
  • Frequently work near moving mechanical machinery and parts.
  • Work in high spaces on occasion.
  • Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemical and could be exposed to outdoor weather conditions.
