Job Summary

We are looking for a highly experienced and passionate professional to join our team as the Bioanalytical Team Leader in the Global Technical Quality Health and Biosciences (H&B) division, based in Wilmington, Delaware. The Global Quality Technical group collaborates with R&D, Manufacturing, Regulatory, and Global QA across the Health & Biosciences Businesses to lead, guide, and transfer quality best practices.

The Bioanalytical Team plays a crucial role in generating, maintaining, and distributing enzyme standards and controls for global quantification and product release. They also own the global manufacturing SQC program and support global product stewardship through method development, knowledge sharing, and the transfer of analytical methods for the safe use and handling of enzymes. The team is responsible for providing services, qualifications, and scientific solutions utilizing advanced analytical methods and tools. Key areas of focus include enzymology, HPLC, combustion analysis (organic and protein), ELISA, gel electrophoresis, spectroscopy, physical properties, and the development and application of new technologies.

As the Bioanalytical Team Leader, you will serve as a key technical leader and will lead a dynamic team of scientists, chemists, and quality professionals, playing a critical role in maintaining high-quality standards and driving innovations while building and leading a world-class technical team.

Job Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

  • Define, conduct, and lead research and development efforts for project areas using in-depth expertise and proactive application of scientific principles, theory and experimental design with working knowledge in multiple disciplines.
  • Oversee research, method development, validation, and implementation, including CAPEX planning and equipment commissioning.
  • Serve as a key interface with Plant QA/QC, R&D, Plant Technology and Operations, Product Stewardship and Regulatory, external labs, customers and vendors.
  • Innovates creative solutions to address commercialization and business needs in a timely and effective manner.
  • Completes technical tasks of increasing complexity, beginning to branch out beyond own specific expertise.
  • Identifies and solves widely diverse, challenging, and poorly-defined problems.
  • Ability to advance technical solutions in support of the project team to drive projects to completion by project and technical leadership.
  • Key collaborator and consultant to ensure project, product, process, and compliance requirements are achieved.
  • Helps customers, partners, peers and stakeholders to understand the applicability of technology to meet customer and business needs and to achieve competitive advantage for the business.
  • Strengthens collaboration with relevant business counterparts, leverages first-hand knowledge of the marketplace and applies application expertise to deliver solutions.

Team Management:

  • Take responsibility for team members' development, training, goal setting, performance review, coaching, and counseling to ensure a high-performing technical organization.
  • Evaluate and develop the succession plan and alignment of resources to support the needs of the Health and Biosciences business.
  • Promote a team culture that is collaborative, diverse and inclusive, fostering innovation and knowledge-sharing to inspire excellence and achieve outstanding results.
  • Works with leaders to establish group/competency goals & objectives to meet business strategy/tactics.
  • Champions projects/solutions and influences the organization to deploy necessary resources aligned with business strategy and priorities.
  • Encourages and participates in establishing an open safety and scientific dialog in the work group.
  • Leads or participates in safety committees or task teams.

Job Requirements:

  • A Ph.D., master's or bachelor's degree in bioanalytical science, biochemical engineering, biochemistry chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field.
  • 5-15 years of experience in bioanalytical science, with a strong knowledge in enzyme analytical tools and techniques.
  • Experience designing and implementing high-throughput bioanalytical screening methods.
  • Strong leadership, team, and project management skills, with experience overseeing multidisciplinary technical teams.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills to work effectively with internal teams and external partners.
  • Proficiency in people and project management and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment.
