Job Summary

The Senior Manager of Compensation will lead the overall design and management of compensation programs, including base, variable and sales commission programs, across North America. This position is responsible for leading a team in designing, planning, implementing and communicating a comprehensive approach to attract, reward, motivate and retain talent.

Key Performance Indicators

  • Growth: Support compensation programs that enable the business to attract key talent

  • Budgets: Synergy compensation delivery (People & Spend) / AOP

  • People: Retention / Engagement / Enablement / Development

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages at least 2 full time exempt direct reports. Management responsibilities include, but are not limited to hiring, coaching, skills development, recognition and rewards, staff productivity and performance management to include disciplinary actions up to and including termination.

  • The Senior Manager will engage with key positions to ensure that all program's support business initiatives and cultivate a diverse, talented, and engaged workforce. This role also provides consulting services to the business as well as drives business performance goals regarding compensation programs.

  • Leads the execution of the compensation and reward initiatives across North America.

  • Researches and develops recommendations to advance compensation programs to align with the business and ensure the right mix and offerings are available to create a comprehensive total rewards package.

  • Leads team to analyze market competitive position, internal equity, compliance and program effectiveness.

  • Act as champion and change agent by anticipating HR-related needs and delivering value-added services for the benefit of teammates

  • Oversees and leads comprehensive communication to the field and functions for all initiatives

  • Provides expertise to ensures that programs and processes are compliant with wage and hour, regulatory and provincial requirements

  • Support the design of Best in Class compensation programs and initiatives including Rewards & Recognition.

  • Key partner to M&A in compensation related matters

  • Responsible for the preparation and communication of executive level summaries.

  • Collaborate effectively with the functional disciplines in the HR COEs to provide guidance and share best practices with local teams along the end to end rewards process

CANDIDATE SUMMARY

Required Experience

  • A minimum of 8+ years experience in Compensation

  • Experience across multiple areas, including in-depth experience in employee relations and delivering on a wide range of HR initiatives across a large organization.

  • Strong leadership and prioritization skills and at least 5+ years of management experience is Required

  • Experience developing and presenting analysis, strategy, and findings to Senior Company Leaders

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to operate and influence cross-functionally at all levels

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving orientation with enthusiasm for digging into and solving cross-functional business, operational and organizational issues

  • Excellent listening skills

Required Leadership Traits and Characteristics

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong understanding of compensational components

  • Ability to influence with data

  • Strong people management skills and the ability to lead a diverse team

  • Strong communication skills

  • Good change management skills

Formal Education, Qualifications or Training

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or related field, Master's degree preferred

  • CCP certification a plus

  • Experience in the design, development, implementation, and administration of various types of compensation programs including base pay, variable pay and equity incentives.

  • Ability to present complex, detailed compensation concepts and market considerations in an approachable way

  • Excellent analytical and quantitative skills

  • Experience in M&A projects, and/or integration projects is a plus

  • Excellent working knowledge of compensation concepts, laws and regulations, and human resources systems and reporting tools

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Google applications, Workday experience preferred

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Incumbent is required to have:

  • Close visual acuity to perform detail-oriented activities at distances close to the eyes, as well as visual acuity to perform activities at or within arm's reach with skill, control, and accuracy, such as preparing and analyzing data, viewing computer screen and expansive reading.

Incumbent will be subject to:

  • Inside working conditions: The change of building environment such as with or without air conditioning and heating.
