Principal Mechanical Engineer

As part of our NovoFlex hybrid policy, this role requires in-office presence in Portsmouth, NH at least three times per week.

Novocure is pioneering cancer treatment through Tumor Treating Fields (TTFields) and is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the development of advanced medical devices. This is a high-impact, strategic role for a hands-on engineer with strong technical and leadership skills. You'll collaborate across global teams, including vendors in the US and UK, and work closely with our Israeli R&D group.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead mechanical design for multidisciplinary, portable medical devices
* Drive projects from concept through manufacturing and regulatory approval
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams and external industrial designers
* Own thermal management, plastics, mechanisms, and electro-mechanical integration
* Perform hands-on validation, testing, and risk mitigation
* Guide product decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure design compliance

What You Bring:
* BSc in Mechanical Engineering (MSc preferred)
* 10+ years of mechanical design experience in medical or highly regulated industries
* Expertise in plastic part design, thermal analysis, battery integration, and design for manufacturing
* Strong communicator with diplomatic, culturally aware leadership style
* Experience working independently and across time zones with global teams
* Comfortable extracting information, managing ambiguity, and driving clarity
