The primary responsibility of the Assistant Preconstruction Manager is to procure construction opportunities for the company, and then steer those opportunities through the early stages of estimating and preconstruction. Responsibilities

    Identify qualified opportunities in the COE sector through the development of strategic relationships with architects, Engineers, developers, and owners.
  • Lead sales and estimating meetings with those potential clients - including describing Suffolk's approach to Pre-Construction, Plan & Control, and the deployment of Technology.
  • Receive drawings and bid documentation for qualified commercial opportunities and determine which trades will be necessary to complete the scope of work.
  • Provide early-stage estimates and rough orders of magnitude for those commercial projects by learning and communicating competitive pricing to owners from subcontractors.
  • Work with project managers on qualified COE opportunities to identify and accurately price discrepancies in drawings and scopes of work.
  • Critically apply market and construction pricing knowledge to provide deal frameworks to perspective pre-qualified clients.
  • Develop and execute detailed account plans.
  • Actively manage customer relationship management database (CRM).
  • Participate in the interview stage for commercial opportunities and help to advocate for Suffolk's approach to innovation.


Qualifications

  • Requires a bachelor's degree in business, Finance, Marketing or relevant discipline with four years' experience in the field or a related area.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction markets and business sectors, including proven success in the COE construction market is essential.
  • A thorough familiarity with construction concepts, definitions, practices, and procedures is fundamental. Knowledge of local planning, permitting, and zoning regulations is required.

Working Conditions

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time; talk or hear; perform fine motor, hand and finger skills in the use of a keyboard, telephone, or writing. The employee is frequently required to stands; walk; and reach with arms and/or hands. Specific vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus. The employee will spend their time in an office environment with a quiet to moderate noise level. Job site walking.
