Position Summary
The American Museum of Natural History is one of the world's preeminent scientific and cultural institutions, and has as its mission to discover, interpret and disseminate information about human cultures, the natural world and the universe through a wide-ranging program of scientific research, education and exhibition.

The Visitor Services department is seeking a full-time Senior Manager of Signature Experiences responsible for the strategic development, implementation and operational oversight of revenue-generating visitor events at the Museum, including, but not limited to, sleepovers, adult nights and after-hours programming. This role ensures that these programs align with the Museum's mission and provide exceptional visitor experiences. The Senior Manager leads a team to implement high-quality, engaging and immersive experiences while managing all aspects of program documentation, training and operations.

Job duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Directly supervise the Manager of Signature Experiences, ensuring strong leadership, training and performance management.
  • Design, implement and refine revenue-generating public experiences such as sleepovers, adult nights and after-hours events to maximize engagement. Identify new opportunities for signature experiences that enhance visitor engagement.
  • Collaborate with internal departments (across operations, exhibition, education, marketing, etc.) to ensure events run seamlessly.
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive program documentation, including training manuals, standard operating procedures and event checklists.
  • Develop and manage budgets for all signature experiences, ensuring financial sustainability and cost-effectiveness.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director and Senior Director of Visitor Services to set revenue targets and track financial performance.
  • Maintain a strong presence during events, providing leadership and troubleshooting issues in real time.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through visitor feedback, staff input and key performance indicators, making adjustments as needed.
  • Address guest concerns and feedback, making data-driven improvements to enhance visitor satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to develop promotional strategies that drive attendance and awareness.


The expected salary range for the Senior Manager, Signature Experiences is $80,000/annual - $90,000/annual. The AMNH offers an extensive benefits package designed to meet the needs of our dedicated and diverse community.

Pay will be determined based on several factors. The hiring range for the position at commencement is based on the type of work and the scope of responsibilities. The salary and placement offered is based on a number of individualized factors, including, but not limited to, skills, knowledge, training, education, credentials, areas of specialization and depth and scope of experience.
Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Five years of management experience in customer service, events or hospitality.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, hospitality, event management or another related field.
  • Demonstrated expertise in the curation of high-volume visitor experiences.

Physical Demands

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position (sitting or standing) for prolonged periods.
  • Must be able to occasionally lift up to 20 pounds.
  • Must be able to move about the Museum campus.
